The Candymakers is a wonderful story about four 11-year old children who come from very different backgrounds, and who are all invited to take part in a candymaking contest for kids. Leo is the son of the owner of a candy factory, and has lived his whole life waiting for this moment, and who hasn't met another child beyond the property line. Daisy is a bright cheerful girl who can lift 50 pounds of taffy without a sweat. Phillip is a boy in a suit who pretends to be a man. Miles is a shy boy who always carries his books and his backpack, and who has never had a best friend. Will these four kids who have so many differences come together? I like this book because it is told from all four of the kid's viewpoints, and you always know who is narrating. This book reminds of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and in every chapter my mouth waters! This book is full of surprises and twists around every turn, and secrets all around! I loved it, and I love Wendy Mass! I recommend this book to anyone 9 years and older. I am super excited to read the new sequel!Almost 7 years agosnicker9's book review was featured in The Frog Princess.
The Frog Princess is one of my favorite books. Princess Emeralda, otherwise known as Princess Emma, is not your typical princess. She is clumsy, and has the laugh of a donkey, and she doesn't like the self-centered Prince Jorge who her mother wants her to marry. Instead she likes to explore the swamp and and learning about magic from her Aunt Grassina. One day when she is in her favorite place-the swamp, she meets a talking frog named Eadric. Eadric claims to be a prince, and he needs Emma to kiss him to turn him back into a prince. Emma consents, but something goes horribly wrong when Emma turns into a frog as well. Now Emma and Eadric must make a journey full of danger and predators in order to find a cure. I absolutely love this book, and the rest of the series. E.D. Baker is a fantastic writer, and her stories are weaved with magic and plot twists! I recommend this book to middle grade kids, around ages 8-12. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.Almost 7 years agosnicker9 added a book review.

Tuesdays at the Castle is about the young Princess Ceilie and her royal family. Tuesday's are Ceilie's favorite days because every Tuesday the Castle adds a new room and shifts around. Ceilie(being the Castle's favorite) is one of the only people who can navigate through the castle's ever-changing corridors, and has been declared official mapmaker. But then while Ceilie's parents and her older brother are away a terrible accident happens, and the three older royals are missing. Presumed dead, many Councilors and foreigners come to take up residence in the castle. Ceilie's older brother Rolf is thrust into the position of an immediate heir. But Ceilie and her siblings suspect a dangerous plot. It is up to Ceilie and the castle to save their family and their home. This book was filled with suspense and secrets, alone with humor at times. I can't wait to read the rest of the series! I recommend this book for the middle grade, around ages 10-15. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.Almost 7 years agosnicker9 added a book review.

Loot is the story of young March, the son of a famous criminal. March and his father Alfie have traveled the world, making some of the grandest heists known. But one night something goes terribly wrong, and Alfie falls of the roof while on a job. With his dying breath he tells he son to find "jewels". But March soon finds out that the "jewels" his father was speaking off was not a hidden treasure chest, but a twin sister he never knew he had. Both March and Jules are shipped off to an orphanage, where they must find a way to escape. They meet two new friends along the way and the new gang escape the orphanage in order to find the coveted moonstone gems, and find how to reverse the curse. For a prophecy was spoken, killing their mother, and jailing their parent's crime partner. And then it said that the twins would be killed together falling off a cliff! Will this group of rag-tag kids learn to trust each other? Will they be able to find the true enemy, and the stones in time? This book kept my heart pounding. There were so many twists and turns, and I was caught up in the drama. I recommend this book for ages 10+. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.Almost 7 years ago
