Mare Barrow was just another Red girl, living crushed beneath the iron fist of the silvers, trying to piece together her family, her mother, and sister, and father who lost a lung and leg to the war, and her three conscripted brothers, shattered by a silver war, forced to make a living for her family, only seventeen, pickpocketing. Until age 18 when she will be inevitably conscripted to the Nortan-Lakelander war- a centuries-old war, a bloodbath. Until her childhood friend loses his job and is left with mere days before his conscription. Until she pickpockets a mysterious stranger. Until she suddenly finds a job in the silver palace as a maid. Until the day of Queenstrial, the choosing of the most powerful, young, silver girl, who shall be destined to produce the finest possible heir to the throne of Norta, and marry Tiberias Calore the Seventh, Flame of the North, Heir to the Crown of Norta. Until by some twisted fate she falls, her world shattering around her, falling into oblivion, falling headfirst into her future, falling into the Queenstrial arena. Death seemed inevitable as she spiraled through the air, down toward the lightning shield of the arena, and suddenly her whole world changes. "I feel the heat of the sparks, running up and down my body, setting every nerve on fire. It isn't a bad feeling though. In fact, I feel, well, alive. Like I've been living my whole life blind and now I've opened my eyes. Something moves beneath my skin, but it's not the sparks, I look at my hands, my arms, marveling at the lightning as it glides over me. cloth burns away, charred black by the heat, but my skin doesn't change. The shield keeps trying to kill me, but it can't. Everything is wrong. I am alive." as her power unfolds, engulfing her in the life and lies of the silvers she is forced to pose as the long-lost daughter of a dead silver war general Ethan Titanos, her mother the long dead Nolle Titanos also murdered on the battlefront, now betrothed to Maven Calore, younger brother of Tiberias Calore the Seventh, Flame of the North, Heir to the Crown of Norta, she must find a way to survive in this new world, in a court of snakes, with a crown of daggers upon her head. armcginn's book review was featured in Heartless.
Heartless is one of those books that are so indescribably enchanting, that it cannot be put into words, yet I will try to do it justice here, Heartless, a tale of romance, a tuna-tart loving cat, a maid and a lady who dream of a bakery, a jester and a king, who purse the same heart and an impossibly mad hatter on the run from time. and the fate that twists their lives in a knot, binding them in an embrace so tight that it becomes impossible to unravel, a tale of things that never should have been, of longing, and false hopes, but this is wonderland, and this is the tale of many things that might be anyway, a defiance of what may seem to be the fate's chosen truth, a romance, a heartbreak, unsurpassed. Marissa Meyers knows the makings of a good romance, and I say this truthfully, very few books make me cry, yet she gives us this gift, like a pure white, rose cut by a joker's hand, that is the key, to the souls of many readers.

armcginn's book review was featured in Divergent (Divergent Series).
Powerful words are rarely pushed to their limits, yet Veronica Roth has woven a tapestry of words so perfectly, this tapestry is known to most, quite simply as Divergent. Gloriously enchanting, A tale of unearthly courage, sacrifice, selflessness, love, and the search for an unseen truth. Welcome to a world where one choice will define you. The choice sixteen-year-old Beatrice Prior will be making, the night of the choosing ceremony. Where will her blood fall? The pure water of the intelligent Erudite?, The clear glass of the honest Candor?, The grey stones of the selfless Abnegation?, The quiet earth of the peaceful Amity? Or the flaming embers of the courageous Dauntless? Torn Between five lives. One choice will define you. Divergence is not an option, it is A secret to be held close, A secret that could kill, A secret that must remain buried, one she will protect even at the price of her own life, because what makes you different makes you dangerous. As her blood hisses amongst the embers she strides towards her new faction, life, and visions. Survival is a must, in a world where danger is commonplace and small fears are scorned to the point of exile, where the art of knife throwing is naught but elementary, gunfights are unextraordinary, ziplining from Willis (formerly Sears)tower's rooftop is a favorite pastime, and death is an honor. This is Tris. This is Dauntless. This is the true meaning of Divergence. Guaranteed to be Un-Put-Down-Able! -ARMcGinn

armcginn's book review was featured in Cinder.
Based upon the classic fairy tale Cinderella, Marisa Meyers weaves the captivating and futuristic tale of a young cyborg, Cinder, living in New Beijing after the fourth world war. She lives with her stepmother and two stepsisters, Adri, Pearl, and Peony. She works as a mechanic, fixing androids and other common household machinery and to "help" her stepmother Adri pay her bills, and all goes according to plan, that is until a particularly charming client (and his android Nansi) sweep her off her feet, on an adventure she never could have never imagined! Prepare yourself for adventure, excitement, betrayal, and even some romance! This is truly one of the greatest books I have read and found I had a hard time putting it down! If you are looking for an amazing book series, this is it. I think that this book is one amazing read!
