The Rose Society (A Young Elites Novel)

The Rose Society (A Young Elites Novel)

By Marie Lu

Yet again Marie Lu makes my gut twist and my emotions run high. With Adelina still struggling with her loyalty where the last book left off, you wonder if true love can really last through death or if there ever was real true love. Marie Lu will gain complete control of your bodily functions and it's almost impossible to avoid sweating, crying, and gasping. I wish I could read this again like the first time. I won't hesitate to give this book 5 stars.

This story follow the dark tale of Adelina Amoteru, a mistreated- sixteen year old and survivor of the plague. The plague has left her "marked" with silver hair and took away her left eye. One day, she decides to run away from home and her father catches her by the arm, threatening to kill her. Anger bubbles inside of her and suddenly three black shadows appear, scaring the horse Adelina was riding on and causing it to kick her father through the heart. Soon, Adelina is put in prison to be burned on a stake- when a mysterious stranger wielding daggers appears and saves her. Who is this stranger and what does he want? And why are his hands flaming? Watch as mysteries unfold and Adelina travels down her dark path in the suspenseful first book of the <Young Elites>. Definitely FIVE STARSSSSS!

Wednesdays in the Tower (Tuesdays at the Castle)

Wednesdays in the Tower (Tuesdays at the Castle)

By Jessica Day George

It has a great cliffhanger at the end. I loved the griffen that they raised and named him Rufus. The characters are set up really well. They are adventurous, funny, loyal. You should read Tuesdays in the Castle first. It good series.

Hilo Book 6: All the Pieces Fit

Hilo Book 6: All the Pieces Fit

By Judd Winick

This book is interesting. It is interesting because of how it ends. I won't tell you how it ends, because then I would spoil the book, but let's just say that D.J. (the main character who is not really good at anything except being a good friend) learns that not everything will be the way you want it to, even after you achieve your goal. Also, I really liked this book even though it is a graphic novel and I usually prefer regular books because the action was sort of spread out through the book. You should like this book if you like graphic novels, but if you read the other books for humor then you probably won't like this very much because this book is more serious. Also, this book is WAY more intense than the other ones, so I would not suggest it to the average 1st grader, even though they might be able to read it because of all the pictures.

A Perfect Time for Pandas (Magic Tree House)

A Perfect Time for Pandas (Magic Tree House)

By Mary Pope Osborne

This is when Annie and Jack go to China to get something that will give Merlin hope. They go to China and find a panda center. They help the center and took care for a panda. Suddenly, there is a earthquake. The pandas' get hurt and the big panda they cared for went missing along with three panda cubs. After they make sure the workers are okay, they find the thing that matches the riddle. It was a panda bread. It is cooked with love and hard as a rock. I loved this book because it is full of excitement and lots of adventures. It also teaches us lessons of hope and caring for others in danger, even if the condition is awful. I really enjoed this book.

Brave (American Dog)

Brave (American Dog)

By Jennifer Li Shotz

Okay, I got to be honest, when I first got this book, I didn't think it would be worth the read, but the author showed me that you have to try something to see if you will like it. I need up really liking this book. It is so sweet and I recommend it for ages 8-12. Brave has been stranded alone behind a dumpster, and when a young boy names Dylan shows up, it changes his life forever. Dylan has always loved dogs, and when he finds Brave, his instinct was to take him home. Of course, his mom didn't think it was a good idea to keep him at all when Brave started to mess up the house. Now Dylan has to find a way to train Brave in a few weeks if he wants to keep him, or Brave will go to a dog shelter. It also turns out that Brave is afraid of loud noises, which makes it hard to train him. Even with all that, Dylan has some social problems too. His dad is away and he misses him very much, and his best friend is not so close to him anymore. Will Dylan find a way to renew his friendship with his friend, all while training Brave, to, well, be brave? Friendships are tested, and when happens, Dylan must make a choice: Friends, or Dog? Read this book to find out more about Brave and his destiny!
