Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire have moved in with a new guardian, Dr. Montgomery who is a herpetologist. The three siblings thought that they could be happy there, away from the horrible schemes of the treacherous villain, Count Olaf. But when Count Olaf shows up disguised as Dr. Montgomery's new assistant, the Baudelaire children know he has another plan to steal their fortune. Will Violet, Klaus, and Sunny be able to stop Count Olaf's plan, even if no one believes them? This book was very interesting to read, and I enjoyed the way the characters develop.

Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire, are intelligent children, but their story is full of misfortune, and this book is the beginning of their tragic story. It all starts when their parents perish in a terrible fire, leaving them an enormous fortune that the kids will inherit once Violet comes of age. And now they must move in with their new guardian, Count Olaf. Unfortunately Count Olaf is intent on stealing the Baudelaire's fortune, and he has proved that he will stop at nothing to get his hands on it. As his grand scheme unfolds, the Baudelaires are backed into a corner, and it seems as if they have no chance in getting out of Count Olaf's clutches. The Baudelaires will have to use their skills like never before in order to triumph. This book was surprisingly good, and something interesting is that the narrator, Lemony Snicket, is always telling you to not read this book because it is so sad, and that just makes you want to read it even more. I really enjoyed this book and I looked forward to reading the next books in the series.

Three orphan boys are selected to secretly be trained to be an imposter for the prince of a kingdom that is falling apart. One of those boys, Sage, is focused on survival, not training- until he realizes that if he does not become the false prince- he dies. This book was full of action and adventure, and it kept me turning the pages as secrets and alliances were revealed. Five stars for this book!

This hilarious book is about a boy named Peter, who pretty much spends all of his time trying to deal with his little brother, Fudge, though his real name is Farley Drexel Hatcher. Peter has to learn how to deal with the annoying and frustrating things his little brother does, such as pretending to be a bird or a dog, refusing to listen and forcing Peter to bribe him, and even swallowing the Peter's turtle. Sometimes, Peter wishes he didn't even have a little brother, but Fudge is part of the family, so Peter will just have to learn how to deal with Fudge. This book was really funny, and entertaining.

This is a story about a young raccoon named kit, who is trying to carry on his parent's work of locating and acient treaty between the house pets and the wild ones. As he journeys to find his uncle and hopefully, help, he discovers that the house pets are trying to claim the wild ones territory. As he delves deeper into the ancient history between the house pets and wild ones, he realizes that treaty or no treaty, the wild ones are going to fight for their territory, and for their holmes. This book was pretty interesting, and I liked how it was like a human city, but with animals. I also loved how the mouse could pick pockets.

Lewallen Collier and his family have always lived out west, far away from people. But when the Civil War starts, Lew's father and older brother go off to fight, and Lew is the only one left to protect the family. Then the Comanche Indians attack, and the only survivors are Lew and his sister, Eula Bee. Lew has a plan to escape from the Comanche Indians, but it will mean leaving his beloved sister behind. He knows he will do a everything in his power to rescue her, he just prays that she'll be waiting and watching. This book was very touching and even though it had some really sad moments the overall ending was very happy, and this book definetely deserves a five star rating.
