[(The End )] [Author: Lemony Snicket] [Sep-2012]
By Lemony Snicket
9 year old: Best book series ever, but Count Olaf is a jerk. Lemony Snicket has lots of great books, but this series is my favorite. 7 year old: I liked it, because we read it together. 12 year old: It is the best book series, Lemony Snicket is a great author. Mom: Reading this series together as a family was incredible. We paused and discussed theories so much. We did end up watching both the film and Netflix show after, neither do the series justice, but it was fun to see how film portrayed our favorite series of all time.
Dragon Captives (The Unwanteds Quests)
By Lisa McMann
I won this book in a giveaway, and it was superb! It picks up about ten years where McMann's last series ended. Twin girls Fifer and Thisbe have extremely powerful magic, but there brother Alex (leader of Artime) won't let them learn how to use it until they learn how to control it. You see their magic has a reputation for being destructive and causing problems. They don't do it on purpose of course, it just slips out accidentally. When one of the dragons (Hux) Alex had made wings for in the previous series comes to Artime seeking help, the twins think this is the perfect opportunity to show Alex just how well they can use their magic for good. Fifer and Thisbe leave the island to help Hux and his siblings, but are met with some unexpected troubles upon arrival. I highly recommend reading this book. A great read for fans of the original Unwanteds series which I would recommend reading before reading this book.
Inkling
By Kenneth Oppel
Henry D
“Splat!” a living splotch of ink escapes from a sketchbook. The name of this book is Inkling. The Author of this book is Kenneth Oppel. The year this book was published was 2018. This is a well written book that is funny and good for all good for all ages. First what happened in the book was Ethan meets a living splotch of ink that came from his father’s sketchbook. Next , the living blob of ink named Inkling helps Ethan with drawing. Then, Inkling starts to give Ethan drawing lessons. After, Vika Ethan’s classmate and mortal enemy finds out about inkling and steals him. Finally Ethan gets Inkling back and Ethan’s sister gets a dog. Here is one of the things I liked about the book. What I liked most about the book Inkling was how unique the characters were. No two of the characters are alike. Each of the ways the characters think and act are different from each other. I remember most of the book but the most memorable part was when Inking escaped from Ethan's father’s sketchbook. First what happened was Inkling pulled all his ink into the center of the book. Then he kept trying to pull himself out. Finally he shot out of the sketchbook with a great leap. Inkling is a funny well written book and is good for all ages. I recommend this book to people who like books that are longer. I also recommend it to people who like fiction books. I don’t recommend this book to people who like picture books or non-fiction books because Inkling is a fictional chapter book.
Umbrella Summer
By Lisa Graff
The book has a really interesting storyline, so far I'm still in the 1st chapter, I just started reading the book today, the book gives Annie a weird vibe of her neighbors. It also tells people to be careful, I might start reading this more often because of what I've gotten so far from it. So far, I give this book a 4 star, let's see how deep this storyline goes.

However, after a customer of Miss Lana's cafe customer is murdered, residents start to question the safety of the town. Detective Joe Starr comes to investigate, but isn't as welcomed by Colonel. Dale and Mo decide its up to them to solve this case! Using their natural-born detectives skills, they just might find the murderer. I enjoyed this book! It was an interesting mystery type book. At the same time there is the mystery of finding who Mo's "Upstream Mother" is. The author shows the struggles of the characters to. I would recommend this for grades 4+. You should give it a try!
Dog Gone! (Good Crooks)
By Mary Amato
The book I am reading in silent sustained reading is a book called Good crooks. My favorite part about this book are the characters and the setting. The descriptions of the setting in the book paint very vivid pictures in my head. The story follows two twins named Billy and Jillian who’s parents are crooks who like to steal things instead of buying things. When Jillian finds a poster telling her to buy a dog or buy dog medicine, the craziness starts when Jillian starts a stand to raise money by selling cupcakes. When their parents find the poster, they say to steal dogs. But when they steal the pretty poodle named Poochie, they do everything to get the dog back to her owner. I would overall rate this book 4.5 stars. This book was good for its setting and the characters.
