Once Lilith Shadow was an ordinary House Shadow princess with no prospects for life. But then when her family is murdered, she becomes the last member of House Shadow, and becomes the ruler. For a little girl this is a daunting role. And the fact that her region is weak and surrounded by possible enemies makes things no easier. Not to mention the fact that she is still being forced into a marriage to the horrible prince from the kingdom of light. If only her father had taught her magic as well as her brother, then she would be able to save her realm. As it is, Lilith must break the rules, and learn the magic of the undead-even if she is a girl. Thorn is the son of an outlaw and he has been captured in slavery. When Tyburn, an executioner for House Shadow, buys him from his master, he is forced to make the decision to stay with Tyburn-for a whole year and one day. But all he wants is to be free. When Thorn arrives at House Shadow he meets Lilith. Will two people who come from different worlds be able to work together to reach their dreams? Much of this book is about the art of nethermancy, so if that makes you uncomfortable this is not the book for you. It was a book filled with adventure and dark magic. I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars, not because it wasn't written well or hair-raising(it certainly was), but because it wasn't my style or preference.

Whenever I get a National Geographic book ( from the library or DOGO ) my whole family reads them. If I won this book I would share it with them.

The Thing About Jellyfish is about Suzy, also known as Zu, who recently lost her best friend in a drowning accident. The thing is, Suzy knows that Franny was an excellent swimmer-she couldn't have just drowned. She decides to find out what really killed her best friend. Then she becomes obsessed with jelly fish-especially the Irukandji, a rare, invisible, deadly jellyfish. And she becomes obsessed with finding a doctor who will believe her, and help her prove to everyone the truth. Suzy has a roller coaster of emoticons of sadness, fear, anticipation and confusion. Meanwhile she has stopped talking. One thing I liked about this book was that in between the chapters of the present day of Suzy, she will be having memories of her and Franny. I think that was important to highlight the friendship, and the growth of Suzy. I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars.

Gilly lives in a shoe in Enchantasia with her five siblings and her parents. There the four princesses, Ella, Snow, Rose, and Rapunzel rule the realm. The reformed villains run the school, Fairy Tale Reform School, including the Evil Queen, Cinderella's Stepmother, and the Sea Siren, but other villains Gottie and Alva are on the run. Life hasn't been easy for Gilly. Although her father had a huge success as shoemaker when he invented the glass slipper, Ella rerouted all orders to go to the Fairy Godmother. So now Gilly's family is hungry, and Gilly has a bitterness for the royals. So Gilly becomes a thief to feed her family. Sometimes she steals bread or actual food, but more often than not she will pawn something off from an unsuspecting low-level royal. One such day she steals a bag of bread, and a dragon-tooth comb for her little sister's birthday. But then she gets caught. Before she knows it she is being forced to attend Reform School. After she gets there she meets Jax and Kayla, and and makes a few other friends. Things are a little rocky, especially with Professor Harrow(the evil queen), and her little sister Jocelyn. But things are beyond problems with detention. Something sneaky is going on. But does it have to do with the headmistress? Or does it have to do with Professor Harrow? Who can Gilly trust? Van villains really change? And what is going on? I really liked this new twist of several of the fairy-tales combined. It was a fresh plot, and I had no idea what was going to happen next, and who was the bad guy and good guy? I recommend this book to middle grade kids who enjoy fairy-tale twists. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

George (short for Georgina) has been sent to her aunt and uncle after her little brother Daniel disappears and her parents set off to look for him. But things seem awfully strange when she arrives. Her aunt talks to ducks and her uncle has a watch with no hands and tells strange stories about the Council, and how Nero the Judge, one of the Seven went crazy and ended up killing all but 2 of his fellow Councilmen. Then Uncle Constantine goes on a business trip, and soon after George gets a note from him saying that he needs her help. The stories are true, and her aunt and uncle are the last two remaining council members. Before she knows it her Aunt Henrietta has been kidnapped by Nero, and she has to go find someone named the Eldest of the Elys while her uncle tries to reform the Council. On the way she meets Mikal and Caleb, two orphaned boys living in the graveyard. They make friends and they set off on the adventure together, looking for 3 keys to Astria, which are very important to the defeat of Nero. On the way they encounter a talking map named Cavendish, a crying Ooglah and taxi doors. Will they find the keys before the end of the world? Will they rescue Aunt Henrietta? I didn't really like this book. I thought that the action was really slow, and there weren't many hair-raising moments like an adventure book usually has. I like the idea of the book, the idea of the plot, but I think that it was poorly executed. I rate this book 2 out of 5 stars.
