Why is Mia Velaz-Cruz failing Spanish class? She's spoken Spanish since she was a baby, but speaking and writing are two very different things. Her impeccable accent and lifelong experience do little to aid her in her Advanced Spanish class. However, Mia's too nervous to confront her parents about it. How will they react when their Spanish daughter is failing a class studying exactly that? On top of it all, Mia is trying to get used to having her stepfather Eddie around. He's funny and a great cook, but it's still strange for her to adjust to having three legal guardians. But as she looks more into her best friend Katie's past, and how her dad left her when she was a baby, Mia is glad to have an extra - a thirteenth cupcake, also known as a baker's dozen - parent after all.

And now, Rick Riordan leaves readers all around the world speechless with this final addition to his brilliant "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" series. Percy's sixteenth birthday promises death. Mortals have no time to dwell on their confusion as hurricanes, floods, acids, and earthquakes threaten to tear the Earth apart. As demigods fight and hug and grieve, thousands die in the great war against Kronos. But in the end, all it takes to destroy the world is one hero, one cursed blade, and one choice.

The stakes are higher than ever before in "Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth." Grover's searcher's license will be revoked in a week, despite the fact that he's been searching for the god Pan all his life. Tyson and Grover are deathly afraid of each other. Annabeth hears a prophecy about her quest that ends in death. And Percy Jackson's world is crumbling. His friends are carrying weights, Kronos' regime looms over him, and Luke has a plan that will forever change Camp Half-Blood's safety. As Percy and his allies enter the deathly Labyrinth, a structure that has a mind of its own, he will learn things that he perhaps never wanted to learn.

Book 3 of the globally-bestselling Percy Jackson series is yet another lovely addition perfectly capturing the spirit of the previous books. Rick Riordan sets the beginning scene at a military school where two demigods are suspected to be residing. Percy is excited: it's not often you find a single demigod, let alone two! But it is even harder to lead them back to Camp Half-Blood safely. In mere minutes, this proves accurate, and everything in Percy Jackson's world is suddenly ripped out from under his feet. Some people did not like the Titan's Curse because Annabeth is absent (for prominent reasons), but this book perfectly builds up the spellbinding relationship between Annabeth and Percy, two demigods who love and fight and are bound together by what seems like the strings of Fate.

If anyone asked the Cupcake Club, "Who is the girly-girl of the group?", they'd all point towards Emma Taylor. And she'd be thrilled! Emma loves dressing up and has a very romantic fashion style. So when Romaine Ford, beautiful Emmy-awarding superstar, asks Emma to model for her, Emma nearly faints. Romaine enjoys Emma's company so much and her modeling abilities, as well as her entrepreneurial approach, that she asks Emma to bake the cupcakes for her wedding to handsome co-star Liam Carey. Emma is on top of the world at first before realizing she must bake dozens of cupcakes for a superstar without telling any of her friends. The pressure is on! A fun and entertaining book capturing the Hollywood glitz and glamor, all readers will love riding the wave of Emma's journey.

girlpower4ever's book review was featured in Pandemonium (Delirium Trilogy).
Absolutely magnificent. Lena's spellbinding adventure continues in the second book of the Delirium Trilogy. Without food, without water, and most importantly with her love Alex, Lena staggers through the Wilds, indiscriminately choosing trees and shelter to sleep. For days, she has ventured through the tangled woods. She would give up if her final promise hadn't been to Alex that she would run. So when Lena is found and taken care of by an Invalid named Raven, she can't tell if she is thankful, cautious, or angry. The rest of the story alternates between Lena's gradual recovery in the Wilds and her mission years later back in Portland, with a fake identity. And when Lena meets Julian Fineman, the face of the Deliria-Free America association, when they're captured by Scavengers, her life will be forever changed. In all truth, the first book was okay, but this one was positively magnificent by all standards. Compelling, intriguing, suspenseful, and ending with a cliffhanger, "Pandemonium" kept me up all night just thinking about what would happen in the final installment.
