Henry and Mudge: The First Book (Henry & Mudge)

Henry and Mudge: The First Book (Henry & Mudge)

By Cynthia Rylant

lgh

Henry and Mudge is a story about a lonely boy who gets a new friend. I think Henry's parents were very nice to let him get a puppy, but I bet they were surprised by how fast and how big Mudge grew! Henry and Mudge have many adventures together, but they do things differently because Henry is a boy and Mudge is a dog. I can't wait to read more stories about Henry and Mudge.

Every Shiny Thing

Every Shiny Thing

By Cordelia Jensen, Laurie Morrison

The perspective of this fascinating book alternates between Lauren, an upper-class kid going to a private Quaker school, and Sierra, a new foster kid who's foster parents are in Lauren's neighborhood. They're each missing something, though. Lauren has an autistic brother named Ryan who in preparation for college, has gone a boarding school, and Lauren feels like a piece of her heart is missing, and nothing can make it come back. Sierra has an addict dad in jail and an alcoholic mom, who's recently been sent to jail. She's now with loving foster parents in Lauren's neighborhood, and she goes to Lauren's school. They become great friends, sitting together at lunch, on the bus, and at school at Worship and Ministry Club. Their mission for the year is to get kids to focus on simplicity, which is where the trouble start. Lauren starts to see how her neighborhood is not simple, and decides to change that by selling things online and giving the money to Occupational Therapists, people who helped Ryan. However, she starts stealing stuff from stores and other people. Soon, she can't pass a single shiny thing without thinking about stealing it. A new Junior Library Guild Selection from authors Cordelia Jensen and Laurie Morrison promises to challenge your moral sense of what is right and wrong. Zach King: My Magical Life

Zach King: My Magical Life

By Zach King

Zach King: My Magical Life is about a boy (Zach King) who comes from a family with magical powers. When he should be getting his magical powers, he hasn't. This leads him to believe that he might have been skipped, meaning he did not receive these powers. All members of the King family have been home schooled, but since Zach has not shown any magical abilities, his parents decide to send him to public school. At first he disagrees with this decision, but slowly comes to accept their choice. At Horace Greeley Middle School , he meets new friends, such as Rachael and Aaron. However, Tricia Stands ,the most popular girl in school, isn't as nice to Zach and his friends. Read the book to find out their plan to get back at Tricia, and how it effects them. I thought this book was good, but not amazing. It had it's funny events, but it didn't feel so unique. This book still makes a good read.

The book the Trail was one of the best books i have ever read. I love how Toby connects with his dog he found. I gave me the chills in the very end of the book when Toby risked his life just to keep moose. I love story's like that. And I also love how Toby was so determent to finish the list just so that he could do it for his friend who passed. That just warmed my heart. I think everyone should read this book at one point in there life. I give it a 5 out of 5.
