This story is told in the time of the Roman Empire. A slave boy, named Nicholas, works in the mines. He is sent by his master, Sal, to go look in Caeser's treasures to go steal a one of a kind necklace that holds magical powers, called a "bulla". Nicholas is tired of being a slave and decides to use the bulla to escape his master. Will he be able to remain free? Will he be able to keep his promise to his mother to keep his sister safe too by gaining her freedom? What about the powerful general who wants the magical powers of the bulla all to himself?
