Trees can't tell jokes, but they can certainly tell stories. . . .

Red is an oak tree who is many rings old. Red is the neighborhood "wishtree"―people write their wishes on pieces of cloth and tie them to Red's branches. Along with her crow friend Bongo and other animals who seek refuge in Red's hollows, this "wishtree" watches over the neighborhood.

You might say Red has seen it all. Until a new family moves in. Not everyone is welcoming, and Red's experiences as a wishtree are more important than ever.

Funny, deep, warm, and nuanced, Wishtree is Newbery Medalist and New York Times–bestselling author Katherine Applegate at her very best―writing from the heart, and from a completely unexpected point of view.

I like the book Wishtree. I thoughtb it was cool that they tied their wishes to the tree. I liked that they tried to help the family.

This is a wonderful book. It starts out with a tree named Red, who also narrates the book . Now Red is a wish tree. And every May he gets covered in the wishes of the people in the town. But when a new family moves in next door there is trouble. All Red whats to do is grant the with of the girl next door's wish, a friend.

Wishtree by Katherine Applegate is a fiction story about a tree named Red, but Red is not an ordinary tree. Red is the neighborhoods Wishtree. What this means is that every year on the first of May, people come from all over to put a wish on the tree. There are silly wishes grand ones and some don't even make sense. Wishtree is a great book to read when camping in a forest, hiking or just at home. I recommend it to grades 2-5. It should take you 1-3 days to read it. I give it 4.9 stars. I recommend Wishtree to people who enjoy nature, friendship, and magic. I really enjoyed it and it's a great choice of a read. I hope you choose to read this great book. I loved this boom a lot!

This book was good. I liked this book because I liked the characters and the storyline. It was about a town wishtree named Red and a new family comes to the neighborhood that Red lives in, but everybody is mean to them! The girl, Samar, puts a wish for a friend on the tree and Red and his crow friend, Bongo, try to make the wish come true. Both kids and grown-ups would probably like this book. Sometimes I wondered what would happen next but sometimes I didn't because it wasn't really that interesting then. Overall this was a good book and I would recommend it.

This is a heartfelt book from the perspective of the tree. I would recommend this book for people who like stories that are about friendship and family.

How very interesting! So creative. This author has a good imagination. I was interested the whole time I was reading. I feel I am a better kid after reading this book. It is a book that makes you feel.

This book is about a tree that has been around for 200 years. Every May 1 people lay some thing like a piece of paper and make a wish. I recommend this book to people who love nature!

Hi guys! I loved reading this book and I suggest you read it aswell. Wishtree is a book about a Tree who is called red, and commonly known as the wishing tree since every year they have a celebration called "wishing day" but when Cop Francesca comes along..things can get a little sad. Will Red be cut down? Or live her/his life?

I read this book and had very high expectations, all of which were quickly fulfilled! I was not disappointed as I read this book! It was deep, but at the same time lighthearted. Is very good for a quick read.
