Lo and behold. Warriors. The book series with lots of characters and 60 or so books. The first book, released 20 years ago, in 2003, tells us about a life form, Rusty, who escapes from the confines of his humans' nest and charges into the forest, never to be seen by the Twolegs again. Which is what those strange cats in the forest, warriors, call members of the Homo Sapiens species. So Rusty, who is only 6 moons old, begins to train as a warrior apprentice, who will catch a lot of tasty prey and fight enemy cats who live in other little tiny cat groups called clans. And he is now called FIREPAW after his brown coat. Then Firepaw meets an old cat who is very chubby; it is Yellowfang, whose teeth are not very well cared for. Oooh. But ShadowClan, a very scary clan, especially with a menacing leader called Brokenstar is demanding to hunt on ThunderClan territory because of FOOD. Unbeknownst to Firepaw, however, there is a prophecy from StarClan, where spirits of dead warriors live, that tells of fire saving the clan. Could he be the key to saving ThunderClan? So I liked this book a lot. I felt like it had better descriptions and more actions than the later mini-arcs. Very exciting and fun to read. Ok writing but not too good.

SO, some felines are doing stuff in this book of Warriors. It is number 1 in The Broken Code arc and tells the tale of three cats, Shadowpaw, Rootpaw, and Bristlepaw(later Bristlefrost). Rootpaw, in Skyclan, tries to be a "normal" warrior, meaning one that likes to FIGHT and kill innocent life forms to eat. He struggles with having Tree, a cat who is not a normal warrior as a father. Shadowpaw, in Shadowclan, receives mysterious visions. But other clans do not take him seriously. They say," AAAAAH. EEET is an evil plot to kill everyone! Oh no." And Bristlepaw, in Thunderclan, watches as something strange happens to her Clan's leader, Bramblestar. Well, the book is about how the Moonpool(that's how medicine cats get guided by Starclan, which is a bunch of dead warriors living in the sky) gets frozen, so no one can reach StarClan. Except maybe Shadowpaw, but as mentioned before, everyone says, "AAAAAAHHH. EEEET is an evil plot to kill everyone! Oh no." The visions tell of misbehaving kitties who are breaking the Warrior Code, and how everyone is DOOMED if something isn't done quickly. But what do those visions mean? Hmmm. I did not like this one very much because it had too little action. You will enjoy it if you like reading books about cats.

zarkinpants's book review was featured in The View from Saturday.
The book opens with a strange statement... Some mysterious sixth graders have won the New York academic championship... How did it happen? What? The View from Saturday tells of the rise of the mysterious sixth graders who somehow beat the eighth graders. It tells of how Noah learned calligraphy, how Nadia rescued some sea turtles, how Ethan met Julian, and how Julian saved a canine from an embarrassing fate. Then it tells of how the 4 humans drank TEA and conspired to help Mrs. Olinski, a teacher who has been PARALYZED from the waist down. It is a strange and exciting tale, full of subtle humor. But it was sort of hard to get into, and the plot was confusing. But it all made sense in the end. Anyway gooood booooook. You should read it if you like realistic fiction.

zarkinpants's book review was featured in Warriors: A Vision of Shadows #5: River of Fire.
Deep in the forest, a gang of strange mysterious feral cats dwells. In ENGLAND. That fact was established in the first book. After 28 books a lot of stuff has happened. Most importantly, Fierestar, the main character in the first arc thingy, has DIED. Now the books focus on three new cats: Violetshine, Twigpaw, and Alderheart. Anyway, this is book 5. So Shadowclan, one of the main groups of cats, has disbanded due to not having enough cats and OTHER REASONS. Now there are only three clans because RiverClan, another group, is closing its borders due to rebuilding. And Alderheart is very apoplectic. Google it. He thinks StarClan does not want that and they don't. Meanwhile, Twigpaw decided to leave SkyClan in the last book and recently went to ThunderClan, which is Alderheart's clan. And her sister Violetshine is doing stuff in SkyClan with her friend Tree. So one day Twigpaw goes to the Moonpool, which is where all the medicine cats, who are sort of like Shamans, go to, and sees that a camp has burned down! DISASTER IS COMING. Oh no. Every clan needs to work together, but how is that possible with just three clans? The book was a very enjoyable read, and it was really interesting, but the plot was strange. I could not keep track of IT. But overall, nice book.
