The book Number the Stars by Lois Lowry is about ten year old Annemarie Johansen. At the time (1943) she lives in Denmark. The Nazis are in Denmark and spread across most European countries as of now. Her sister is part of a secret group that opposes the nazis and dies trying to save the Jews. Her best friend,Ellen, looks like her sister and pretends to be when threatened by nazis. This book is about the journey they take to get across the sea from Denmark to Finland where Jews are free. This is one of my all time favorite books and I recommend it to everyone. I didn't know I liked historical fiction when I picked up this book but now it is one of my favorite genres.Over 10 years agopriys wants to read this book.

This book is one of my favorite books! It is sad at times, funny at other times, but no matter what, it is always meaningful. I would definitely recommend this book!Over 10 years agobhatr added a book review.
