OMG guys, i've barely been on ALL SUMMER because of camps and vacations!! What's happened since i've been gone? I missed you guys and i hope you're having a great summer!Over 4 years agohummingbird1's book review was featured in Kid Activists: True Tales of Childhood from Champions of Change (Kid Legends).
There are many people who have helped shape our world and society into the place it is today. You might recognize Helen Keller, who was blind and deaf but fought for the rights of disabled people. You might also know Martin Luther King Jr. who wanted equal rights for everyone. When you look back on these people, it seems like they were special and we could never do what they did. However, Kid Activists tells how these incredible people started out as regular, fun loving kids, just like you and me. In Kid Activists, you will hear the journey of the men and women that paved the way for our rights from the day they were born until their last breath. You will learn their interests as a kid, their strengths and weaknesses, and what they did to shape our world. I loved hearing the encouragement that someone like me could do something big like them. I definitely recommend Kid Activists to any kid, and I hope inspires you the way it inspired me.Almost 5 years agohummingbird1 added a book review.

I have read this book multiple times, and it continues to be one of my favorites. August Pullman is no ordinary kid. He was born with a facial abnormality, which causes him to look deformed. When 5th grade is right around the corner, his mother urges him to go to public school, which is a big change because he has been homeschooled his whole life. As the story progresses, it is told through the points of view of different people, showing that there is always at least two sides of the story. This book is great for 4th graders and up, because it really teaches an important lesson that everyone hears, but few people learn: Don't judge a book by it's cover.Almost 5 years ago3009215 has joined a reading program.

HAPPPPPYYYYY BIRTHHHDAAYYYYY AGJ!!!! Ever since I first came on to this site almost 3 years ago, you have been sooo nice to me and everyone else! I hope you have an amazing day! :D <3Almost 5 years agocallie_b's book review was featured in Utterly Me, Clarice Bean.
I've always loved Clarice Bean, and when I reread this favorite elementary school book, I was filled with happy memories of simpler times. I loved reliving the funny and quirky story of Clarice and her friends and her love of Ruby Redfort. I feel like I've told this to everyone I've talked to about this book, but the author of this book is Lauren Child, also well known for her Charlie and Lola picture books. In the Clarice Bean series, Clarice and her best friend Betty are obsessed with a series called Ruby Redfort about an eleven-year-old undercover detective and spy, and that's when I became obsessed with the idea of the series. Then I learned when I was about 10 years old that so many fans of Clarice Bean actually wrote to Lauren Child asking her to write a real Ruby Redfort series. And she did, and those books are also amazing so I encourage you to check those out too!! Clarice is faced with many mysteries that seem to be up to her to solve. This book was a blast from the past for me, and I totally loved reading it again after all these years!Almost 5 years agocallie_b added a book review.
