This was a random book I had picked up at the library, the cover looked interesting. But the book was so much more than that! Charlie and his family, the whole town of Harmony, New Hampshire, gather to watch a scientific phenomenon on New Years Eve. But suddenly, the black night turns a flashing, blinding white, and then, darkness. Things only go downhill after that. Mr. Mangano, the science teacher, hypothesizes that it was a solar flare that knocked out the power grid. Nothing starts or turns on. Could you imagine? Your flashlight not working, cars, motors, anything electric, at all, wouldn't work. Mr. Kingman, the volunteer police officer, organizes town hall meetings to work together to provide firewood, food, water, and necessities. Things start to get better until Mrs. Alder's Superette burns down, the only nearby pharmacy. Suspicions have it that it was Mr. Bragg, the hater and anti-Semitic arsonist. The Superette burning down isn't as a big of a problem as it is for Charlie's family. His mom has type 2 diabetes, and his mom needs more prescription! His mom only has 19 pills, and she needs to take one pill a day. Charlie sets out to ski down 50 miles to Concord for medicine, (with the help of his friend) where he is encountered by coyotes, meets a very lovable french couple, and reaches Concord to find his medicine. He is told to go to an insane asylum to look for the medicine. When he receives it, he is escorted by the French couples's son's huskies as Charlie sits on a dogsled. Not so good news is, Charlie's sister tells the whole town about Charlie leaving, and when he reaches his house, Mr. Bragg and his sons are waiting for him. They surround Charlie, and steal the medicine. Charlie's sister calls for a town meeting,-- perfect opportunity for Mr. Bragg to surround the town hall. Just as Mr. Bragg shoots Mr. Kingman, the power- beep-beep- comes on! The next day, the president comes on the radio, and things, start to go back to normal. I absolutely loved this book when I thought it wouldn't be so interesting. You definitely need to check it out!

This is the third book in the series, so if you have not read the first two books don't read this review if you don't want a spoiler! This book has some serious romance ;) and has the best plot twists. If you like royalty books and some romance, these series are great for you!! So start reading!! It is amazing, how Kiera Cass wrote these books. Maxon and America love each other, but Maxon seems to doubt it as to the guard Aspen Leger. But in the end, a happy ending is quite obvious. And the next ones are about their daughter, Eadlynn!

I would like to own this series because then I won't have to wait forever for it to come into the public library. I don't own many fictional books, and when I do, it's other parent's gifts to me or I begged and begged. This series looks so good and I would love to own it. The reason why I would like to own this book is because I have always loved fiction and always reread again and again. Winning this giveaway would mean a lot to me because I never win lottery things like this and winning books would be an ultimate gift!!! Thank You!

This book is definitely a must-read. Rose Lee is a black girl who lives a pretty unfair life. Slaves are freed, but what is freedom if you can't vote without the fear of getting killed? Hallelujah (his real name isn't Hallelujah) and Rose try to figure this out during their struggle against racial discrimination. Blacks are pushing on the right to vote, but Rose's grandma Pearl, or ma, says otherwise. She says that we shouldn't meddle with that kinda stuff. The roof that Rose and her family live underneath is provided by a White owner who pays them so little for housekeeping and cotton-picking, so Ma Pearl doesn't want to be kicked off their land. But that isn't the only unfairness that Rose has to endure. She lives with unfairness everyday under her own roof! For one, her cousin, Queen (that is her real name), doesn't do squat around the house! Her complexion is too light, and musn't be out in sun darkening her skin, as Grandma Pearl says. Not only that, Rose and her brother were given to their grandma when their mom married off to a different family to take care of their kids. Rose feels as if her mom doesn't like her because she's so dark, she's a midnight without a moon. Dive into these pages as you feel the pains of Black's in the South. This book is amazing and cannot go being unread. There is a sequel called- A Sky Full Of Stars. You will like it a lot!
