maddyp18's book review was featured in The Wearle (The Erth Dragons #1).
In this book, Gabriel is a young dragon who wants to prove himself to the Elders. Long ago, a Wearle, or community of dragons, traveled to Erth on an expedition from their home planet and mysteriously disappeared. Gabriel is in the second Wearle, which is investigating the disappearance of the first Wearle. Then, Gabriel supposedly causes a rockslide which kills a female dragon, while he is fighting to be her mate with another dragon and ends up on sweep, or guard duty to keep away the hom, or humans, that live in the area. Almost all of the Hom live in fear of the dragons. But, one young boy named Ren isn't afraid of the beasts, and wants peace between the two species. He finds and nurtures the baby of the mother dragon killed in the rockslide Gabriel eventually finds Ren and the baby dragon, and also figures out that a substance that they mine and eat to make their fire stronger is actually causing them to mutate into the monsters that killed off the first wearle, and redeems himself with the other dragons. I loved this book so much! It introduces a fantasy world filled with these almost magical beasts. The plot was intricate and exciting, involving conflicts and political intrigue between the dragons as well as the humans. The human main character, Ren, is brave, trustworthy, strong, clever and caring, and Gabriel, the dragon main character, is brave, strong, smart, and thoughtful. Overall, I really loved this story — it had so much action and suspense, and I literally couldn’t put it down. And I really loved the surprising and dramatic ending!

11 year old John Watson's parents are divorced, and John and his mom are finally moving for good, to live in a apartment in New York City. Then, shy, laid back John meets bold, bossy, smart, Shelby Holmes, and his life changes. Shelby is a detective, and a good one at that. Shelby is 9 years old and in sixth grade, (she skipped a few years of school). Shelby has a reputation in her neighborhood as a smart detective, and John is impressed by her. But suddenly, a rich family's dog goes missing, and Shelby is on the case! Shelby is competitive with a REAL detective in the case of the missing dog, and John and Shelby are forced to try and prove themselves to the adults. I loved this book so much! Shelby is such a character, and John is so laid back. I love how the key to this story is friendship, and how John becomes Shelby's friend in the end. This book is an amazing realistic fiction book that both boys and girls will love.I hope that you like this book as much as I did!

Michael O'Shaunessey is Irish. His parents are ambassadors to Germany, and right now the family of three lives in Germany. But, Michael's parents are spies for the Allies, and Michael is a member of the Hitler Youth, like all the other boys in Germany. Michael hates the Nazi's and he hates the Nazi's hatred of Jews. Michael participates in the Hitler Youth's terrible book burnings and their horrible idea of fun, so he can help is parents spy, and get secret information. Then, Michael and his family learn about Projekt 1065, from the British Jew they are hiding, and Michael has to prove how loyal he is to Germany, and Hitler, to go on a trip to save the lives of many, instead of killing them. Will Michael succeed and become a hero, or will he fail and die? I loved this book so much! Michael is brave, strong, trustworthy, and thoughtful. Michael was really brave when he faced his fear of heights and jumped of a two story building into a swimming pool! Also, the message in this story is that sometimes you have to sacrifice someone for the sake of the war. This is an action filled historical story, that both boys and girls will love! I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!

maddyp18's book review was featured in Gertie's Leap to Greatness.
I loved this book so much! This book is about Gertie Reece Foy, and her year as a fifth grader. Gertie's father works on an oil rig, and Gertie's Aunt Rae is like a mother. But, when Gertie finds out that her real mother Rachel Collins is moving out of her house, (Gertie doesnt live with her mother), Gertie decides to become the "BEST FIFTH GRADER EVER!" Then, Mary Sue Spivey moves to Alabama from California, because her dad is filming a movie here. Mary Sue Spivey is stealing all of Gertie's glory, and Gertie and her two best friends, Junior and Jean have to find out what to do about the popular new girl. This book is amazing! Gertie is a girl on a mission, and Gertie never fails her missions. Gertie is funny, strong willed, smart, and caring. You will definitely be laughing throughout this story, and you will never tire of Gertie and her personality. This message in this story is that even if you want something badly, it might not be whats best for you. Both girls and boys will love this book. I hope you love this book as much as I did!
