Glory O'Brien's History of the Future

Glory O'Brien's History of the Future

By A.S. King

Glory O'Brien used to be pretty normal--normal enough that no one would notice her, no one would fall in love with her--Glory was invisible in the school social group, quiet and shy, not saying a word. But all of that changes when she discovers a dead bat along with her friend one day. Out of curious excitement, they powder the bat's corpse and swig it together--not knowing the magical properties it holds. All of a sudden Glory can see everything--the futures of people on the streets, the histories behind every face are unveiled in front of her. The problems it causes range from new angst that brings up old memories, to just simply hoping she can stop seeing those terrible things. Glory O' Brien's History of the Future is a teen book about everything--your past, your present, and better yet...your future.

Spontaneous

Spontaneous

By Aaron Starmer

Why would a kid just suddenly explode? Why would a FBI agent come to town? And why are students fleeing the school? In an unexpected class, Mara's fellow classmate Katelyn suddenly explodes--giving the students quite a fright. The experts rule it out as spontaneous combusting, when the human body suddenly explodes. And that's just the start of the losing streak--of student lives--that strikes Mara's little town. It seems every week, every day a student dies the same painful death, which keep the remaining students on their toes. Meanwhile, Mara flirts up a storm with dangerous and exciting Dylan, and her BFF Tess starts discovering new mysteries at school--all in the hope that the curse avoids them. An unique, surprisingly fascinating tale, Spontaneous will open your eyes to every answer you want about growing up--and blowing up.

Nerd Camp

Nerd Camp

By Elissa Brent Weissman

This book is the first book in the series Nerd Camp. Gabe is meeting his new stepbrother, Zack. Zack is so cool and Gabe wants to be just like him, so he only tells him that he is going away to sleep away camp. He goes there, and makes a list about what he can tell Zack and what he can't. He makes new friends, has fun, and certainly enjoys camp. He writes back and forth with his stepbrother, telling him only the coo stuff. In the end, Gabe learns that to be cool, you just have to be you. That is what I learned from reading this book and I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good book.

The Detention Club

The Detention Club

By David Yoo

Peter Lee USED to be popular--or at least, not a loser. But now that he enters sixth grade, things aren't as awesome as he thinks. Not even having a super-cool sister like Sunny can help this time. His mica collection with best friend Drew? Boring! His "fifth-grade" phrases? Lame! Soon Peter and Drew's titles go from "slightly popular" to "losers".Peter tries to avoid the Sweet brothers, the well-renowned bullies at school. And terrible luck lands him in detention--with the bullies! So when the Brothers start treating him like a friend, Peter is thrilled and scared. Why are they doing so? Why is Drew suddenly grumpy and angry? And most of all--what are these new rumors about a thief at the school? If detention is a gift, then anything can be done! And that is made reality in this hilarious, rebellious novel by David Yoo!

Otis Dooda: Strange but True (Otis Dooda Series)

Otis Dooda: Strange but True (Otis Dooda Series)

By Ellen Potter

This book was definetly for someone youger than me. I recommed this book to kids who like silly adventures. Otis Dooda is always getting called funny names. In the book he get's cursed, finds an undercover pony, has a pet rat named Smoochie, annoying siblings, farting, elbow licking, and more! It is a great book if you want to laugh.

Vanishing Girls

Vanishing Girls

By Lauren Oliver

"Vanishing Girls" was amazing! The descriptions of both characters and the places and things they saw were so realistic, I could honestly see real people living the lives Nick and Dara did, messing up the same rooms, volunteering at the same rundown amusement parks, driving in the same average-looking cars, feeling the same ways about the same things. Everything felt so relatable. I can honestly say I've seen places similar to what author Lauren Oliver described. But then, the sisters' lives upended and became a whole lot crazier then anyone's I know. The mini twists were shocking and the final one was nothing I ever saw coming. Even that single jaw-dropper is worth the read! Loved this book!
