By M. Martin Ann, Ann M. Martin

I read this book and then re-read it again and again. Its a great little twist on the real babysitters club. The part with Mimi having a stroke made me cry just because of the detail and descriptions. It was a great read.

The Everafter War (The Sisters Grimm, Book 7) (Bk. 7)

The Everafter War (The Sisters Grimm, Book 7) (Bk. 7)

By Michael Buckley

I really think you should read The Everafter War in The sisters Grimm, actually I recommend reading all The sisters Grimm series book! Here are some things that are in The Sisters Grimm : Romance, Tragedy, Mystery, and fairy tale. But sometimes they twist fairy tales. And here is some information about Everafters if you don't know already: Everafters are basically people/fairy/ animals that are in fairy tales. Most everafters don't like The Grimm family because the Grimm family put a magical barrier in Fairyport Landing, so no everafters can leave the town Fairyport Landing. Everafters are usually around 460 years old, Everafters can choose when they want to stop and start growing so they won't look as old as they really are. I have read all the sisters grimm books many many time. In fact I have read this sisters grimm book 14 times, I read them over and over because you will never get bored of The Sisters Grimm!

Goldie (The Puppy Place)

Goldie (The Puppy Place)

By Ellen Miles

I really really really love puppies! That's how I discovered the puppy palace. This was my favorite book in that series! I can also relate to it in a way. My mom won't let me have a puppy of my own because it is too much responsibility. So instead we foster them In till they find their forever home. Our house is full of puppies and cute dogs. Maybe one day I'll get a puppy of my own.

Miracle's Boys

Miracle's Boys

By Jacqueline Woodson

Jacqueline Woodson, The author of Miracle Boys’ tells a story about three kids that are forced to grow up without any parents. Lafayette is one of the main characters. He is determined but also is very curious about his parents deaths. His brother, Tyree is forced to raise 2 other kids to as he is in charge of the house and has to have a job instead of working. It is often in a apartment in New York where they are forced to live in a small rundown room. They live in a poor rundown apartment with their brother, Tyree in charge even though he is 19 because both of their parents died. The story is written in paragraphs with it very descriptive. I like that there are chapters every 7 pages or so. It is not meant to be a very funny book but makes up for its lack of humor with description. One example from the book is, “Brothers is the baddest. Then comes Dominicans. Dominicans don’t mess around. I’m cool with Dominicans though” It shows how throughout the book they are forced to live in unity with each other. Another quote is, “Ty’ree was all right after Mama died. But I was all wrong. The year before, I’d seen this show about snakes. They showed this one snake slipping out of its old skin and then leaving the old skin on the ground behind him. That’s how I felt—like Mama’d been my skin. But I hadn’t grown a new skin underneath, like the snake had. I was just blood and bones spreading all over the place.” This show how Lafayette was still recovering throughout the story from his Mom’s death. Miracle Boy’s has won the Coretta Scott King award for authors. The author, Jacqueline Woodson has won the John Newbery awards for 2 of her other books. Woodson went to Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. Miracle Boy’s made me get into the book. It made me feel like I was right there with Lafayette in his journey without his parents. It made me experience what it felt like by putting me in the shoes of someone without parents.

The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy

The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy

By Jeanne Birdsall

Don't ever judge a book by its cover you'll be sorry you did. About three years ago my mom picked up this book and said that she thought it would be a good read. I took one look at the cover and said " that looks boring ". She insisted that I try it and over the summer I did. It was fantastic! The very book is now sitting on my shelf and I have re-read it many times. Rosalind,Skye,Jane, and Batty are not entirely sure what this summer may hold for them but they are determined to make it a Penderwick one. Rosalind the oldest and the prettiest if you ask any of the other sisters acts like the girls' mother because their mother died years before while also trying to sort out her feeling about a teenage gardener named Cagney. Skye the only sister that looks anything like their mother with blond hair and blue eyes is ready for a relaxing summer with just the perfect amount of sisters fun and trouble. Jane the head in the clouds author sister is working on her new Sabrina Starr book. Batty the youngest is happy to be out playing with her best friend the family dog named Hound. What looks to be a good summer turns into a great one with adventures like a man goring bull, two rabbits, a grouchy neighbor, and a very mysterious boy.

The Chronicles Of Narnia (7 Book Series)

The Chronicles Of Narnia (7 Book Series)

By C.S. Lewis

Yesterday I read Silverbell. It talks about a girl named Jill Pole to rescue a long lost prince. The prince’s father is sad because there’s no prince to become king after him. The girl travels through an underground world called The Land Of Bism where gnomes roam, eating diamonds.Gnomes are critters like humans, but have a hundred toes. My favorite part is when she gets to the house of the ManChomping Giants, giants who eat men for dinner. First, some lazy men were sleeping nearby. Jill picks the men up and tosses them into the ManChomping Giants’ house. The giants’ house was a big stone fortress, but it had windows on the floor. That part was the funny bit. Then, the girl goes to the Land Of The White Witch, and finds the prince by breaking the witch’s spell. They broke the spell by breaking a silver bell. Finally, they must battle the witch. That part was the scary bit. The moral of the story is to keep trying, even when things look hopeless. I like the story because they had a grand party at the end. If you want to see if they beat the witch, read the story!!!

Efren Divided

Efren Divided

By Ernesto Cisneros

I honestly only picked this book because I thought the cover was interesting. However, this book was so much more than I thought it would be. (I also learned a lot of Spanish from this book, haha). Efren is a normal seventh grader, straight As and a perfect attendance record. He has everything anyone could wish for— caring parents, annoying yet cute siblings, and a best friend, David (sometimes referred to as “El Periquito Blanco” due to the colorful clothes he wears). Well, he might be poor, but his Ama (mom) makes it feel like the house is bigger than it seems with her joyful attitude, her strong hands, and her care for the family. Until one day. Efren was helping David with his campaign posters (David had decided to run for president). He arrived home late but when he entered his house, something was wrong. The twins (Max and Mia, his siblings) were missing. At first he assumed that Ama had brought them back to the playground to play, so he didn’t ponder it for too long. After reading for over an hour, though, he started to get worried. Thats when he realized Ama was missing, after discovering a note that said his neighbor had the twins. His Ama had been DEPORTED, meaning she was now across the border in Mexico taken by the ICE because she wasn’t a “true citizen” in the United States. Life got harder for Efren after that. Taking care of the twins HIMSELF, with his father working overtime to earn money, having to make food and earn money, and still help his friend manage his campaign. Lots of things happen in between here and I won’t spoil it for you… however this is an amazing and heartwarming book and my heart really ached when Efren couldn’t tell the truth about Ama getting deported to Max and Mia, when David told Efren he didn’t want to be friends with him anymore, sympathized when so many loved ones in Efren’s life was deported… I think you’ll have a fun time reading this book. :)

Squished: A Graphic Novel

Squished: A Graphic Novel

By Lloyd, Megan Wagner

Title: squished Author: Megan Wagner Lloyd Genre: Realistic Fiction I give this book a 5/5 stars because this book connects to real life for some people. It also has a very fun plot. One thing I find interesting is how Dani decided to hang out with Char instead of Avery! Char is cool and all but Avery is really sad about it. I recommend this book to 3rd+ because the plot could confuse a second grader but overall I think it's a really good book.
