The Letter for the King
By Tonke Dragt
So it turns out that there was a letter, and there was a king. Three feudal kingdoms, complete with knights and all that: EVIELLAN, DAGONAUT, and UNAUWEN. They are the kingdoms in the book, and Eviellan, as you can see from the spelling, is evil. Or at least, it is ruled by evil humans. Tiuri, a native of The Kingdom of Dagonaut, named after the ruler, King Dagonaut, is going to be a knight. Wow. Knights have cool armor, don't they. But first, he must reflect upon the duties of a knight, but his concentration is broken by a mysterious person banging on the door and asking to be let in. The human is a squire, and he tells Tiuri to deliver a strange and scary letter to a knight, one with a white shield and black armor. The knight then tasks Tiuri with an arduous task, to deliver a letter all the way to Unauwen, before dying a horrible death because some Red Riders, horsemen from Eviellan wearing red armor have mortally wounded him. "My feet are going to be tired." Tiuri thinks, and then he takes the man's black horse, which he gifted to him, and rides on. A quest has begun, it seems. So, I shall now rate this book. Laura Watkinson did a great job translating the book. (It was originally in Dutch.) The book has an old-fashioned style, so some readers may not want to read it maybe. The descriptions are nice, and it is filled with action in most parts. However, the book was not very deep; there was character development, but they could have more character. Overall, people who wish to read classics and/or fantasy will like this book
Dragon Captives (The Unwanteds Quests)
By Lisa McMann
I won this book in a giveaway, and it was superb! It picks up about ten years where McMann's last series ended. Twin girls Fifer and Thisbe have extremely powerful magic, but there brother Alex (leader of Artime) won't let them learn how to use it until they learn how to control it. You see their magic has a reputation for being destructive and causing problems. They don't do it on purpose of course, it just slips out accidentally. When one of the dragons (Hux) Alex had made wings for in the previous series comes to Artime seeking help, the twins think this is the perfect opportunity to show Alex just how well they can use their magic for good. Fifer and Thisbe leave the island to help Hux and his siblings, but are met with some unexpected troubles upon arrival. I highly recommend reading this book. A great read for fans of the original Unwanteds series which I would recommend reading before reading this book.

The town is in deep trouble, and if the problem isn't solved there is going to be a lot more trouble. Pip and her new friend Tomas must set out to solve the mystery, and save the magical creatures. Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, Book 2 The Hammer of Thor
By Unknown
This Norse mythology masterpiece is written by Rick Riordan, the king of mythology writing. Unlike most of his books which are Greek mythology, this series Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard is Norse . I found it really unique that Mr.Riordan is writing Norse because it's something that took most of his readers (including me) by surprise. The Hammer of Thor is filled with laughs, action, and little tidbits from Norse mythology which makes learning about it fun, and is (in my opinion) better than The Sword of Summer Book 1. The one thing that blew me away was how Mr.Riordan incorporated his characters (Percy and Annabeth) from other books into his newest instalment of books, something I think is really hard and amazing and made the book even more fun to read. My friends described this book as "litty" but I call it a masterpiece (one of Riordan's best books yet) and is beautifully written. I do suggest reading the first book and of course reading the third book after #2. I recommend this for ages 9+ and die-hard Rick Riordan fans and give it 5/5 stars. HAPPY READINGS! Nightbooks
By J. A. White
Olivia M.
A boy named Alex got kidnapped by Natasha the witch oh no! Alex befriends a a girl named Yasmin. If you like adventure, suspense, and action read this book. Nightbooks is a book by J.A White and it was published in July,24,2018. If you like horror that is a bit scary but not that scary I recommend this book to you. In the story the character is a boy named Alex. An evil witch named Natasha trapped Alex in her magic apartment using magical illusions of Alex’s favorite things. Alex wanted to escape but Natasha had a magical key so Alex could not escape. When Alex was forced to write scary stories for Natasha he wrote them in the library. He saw notes from an unknown girl with directions on how to escape. Alex called this person a unicorn girl. Because she had a unicorn pendant. Alex made friends with a girl named Yasmin who Natasha had also trapped. Alex could not find all the notes written by unicorn girl so Yasmin decided to help Alex find the notes so they could both escape. When they found the notes they battled Natasha and managed to escape and live happily. In my opinion the characters in Night Books would act friendly once they got to know Alex better and that they’re all unique. Alex the main character is brave And kind. Alex is brave because even though he is going to get in trouble by Natasha the witch for trying to escape he is still trying to find a way. Alex is Also kind because in the book Natasha was going to blast Yasmin when she released an evil magic plant on accident but alex took the blame so Yasmin would not get hurt. This is my evidence on how Alex is kind and brave. Yasmin a secondary character is afraid and obeying at first but afterwards she is friendly And confident. Yasmin was afraid in the story because Natasha would hurt her if she made a mistake.Yasmin is obeying because in the story Yasmin would do all The chores and would act like a servant to Natasha. When Yasmin became friends with Alex she started to act friendly like in the story when Alex was look for Notes from unicorn girl Yasmin decided to help him. So Alexc could write stories To read to Natasha. She is also confident like in the story said there was a way to escape Alex was starting to lose hope. What i like most about the book Nightbooks is that is talks about making friends and being yourself. Examples that the book talks about my topic is that Alex would try and befriend people like lenore and Yasmin. Yasmin has a unique personality of before making friends she will have to trust them first and lenore’s personality is loyal because even though Natasha has hurt her many times she is still trying to help. These are my examples of the topic i said about Nightbooks. Nightbooks was a very intriguing book and if you like horror that is a little scary i recommend this book to you. I would most definitely recommend this book to people who get scared easily because the scares are mild. I would not recommend this book to people who love scares because the horror might seem lame and empty.
Two Peas in a Pod (Whatever After #11)
By Sarah Mlynowski
Stung and hurt because she wasn't voted as carnival leader, Abby storms back home with cumulonimbus clouds in her thoughts and actions. So it's a mild reprieve when she jumps into the mirror with her brother Jonah and lands in the Princess and the Pea fairytale...kind of. This time, Abby is determined not to mess anything up. But when she's too afraid to sleep atop the hundred mattresses given to her, everyone thinks she couldn't sleep because she sensed the pea under the mattresses, and suddenly Abby's dubbed a princess! After a while, Abby starts warming up to the princess treatment - who can argue when you have people waiting on you hand and foot, after all? - but knows she must find a real princess, someone who is truly good deep inside. And so, the princess games are on! But after venturing to the dark side of the moon and back with these games, and also having to fend off a snooty prince (all in a day's work!), Abby realizes that genuine leadership means stepping aside sometimes. Beautiful, creative, and inherently funny, this wonderful fractured fairy tale by Sarah Mlynowski is not to be missed!
Dream On (Whatever After #4)
