I Survived the Children’s Blizzard, 1888 (I Survived #16)

I Survived the Children’s Blizzard, 1888 (I Survived #16)

By Lauren Tarshis

“A deadly blizzard raged across the prairie, and eleven-year-old John Hale was trapped in a frozen nightmare.” I Survived; The Children’s Blizzard, 1888 is a beautiful masterpiece. I am a huge fan of Historical Fiction. Give me anything Historical fiction and I will surely read it on the spot. The I Survived series in particular is made up of many children that survived historical disasters. This I Survived book is 108 pages long. It was a quick read for me, probably took me a day to finish. After I read this novel, it got me interested in The Children’s Blizzard. And, WOW, people actually made houses out of mud! ***CHARACTERS*** John- John’s life is pretty dang interesting. What I really like is that even though John isn’t necessarily a real person, but someone his age actually experienced what he did. And who knows? Maybe the real kid’s name is John Hale. Oh! And how can I forget when John is looking for his little sister, Franny, in the cold? That was heart-breaking, and it got me on the edge of my seat. ***SETTING*** I ADORE the detail in the setting so much! It is just so interesting to see how people actually lived in 1888. It is even more interesting to see how young children actually survived a brutal snow storm.   In all, I really liked this book. I am sure now that I will read every I Survived novel. Lauren Tarshis’s writing is accurate and enjoyable! Five stars from me! I received this copy of I Survived; The Children’s Blizzard, 1888 from DogoBooks, this has not influenced my opinion.

Macarons at Midnight: A Wish Novel

Macarons at Midnight: A Wish Novel

By Suzanne Nelson

It had all of the things that a good book has - good friends, a great main character, mystery, and the perfect prince! Just when you think all hope is lost, love wins in the end! I only gave 4 stars because the ending went pretty fast at the end.

I Shall Wear Midnight (Tiffany Aching)

I Shall Wear Midnight (Tiffany Aching)

By Terry Pratchett

This book is the fourth book in the five book Discworld series starring Tiffany Aching. Tiffany is now officially the witch of the chalk, and performs all the little tasks that ordinary people don't or can't perform. But now, something is stirring dark feelings against witches, and even the Nac Mac Feegles can not help her against this force. But yet, other things happen. Roland has a new fiance, Letitia, and there is to be a wedding. Yet wedding plans are vetoed when the old baron dies. Feegles set fire to broomsticks, and tie shoelaces together, and there may be more to Letitia than meets the eye. The fourth book in this series is darker than the rest of the books. Yet it carries the same strong female lead, and the message of overcoming bigotry as the rest of the books. Recommended for grades 5 and up.

Duke (Dogs of World War II)

Duke (Dogs of World War II)

By Kirby Larson

i just finished Duke and some parts get really emotional and made me cry and some parts made me jump up at my desk and and some times i made a little noise. I really loved this book,it really touched me because a few months ago my dog passed away and this showed me that there is worse things in life. Kirby Larson is a very good historical fiction writer and is very descriptive and makes me want to keep reading, but I have to go to bed instead of staying up and reading until 11:00 and I get in trouble. I really love this book and I hope you read it.

The Doll People

The Doll People

By Ann M. Martin, Laura Godwin

I love this book! Annabelle Doll is over 100 years old, but she's actually 8! Her Auntie has been missing since 1955, but the Dolls always felt it was too risky to search for her. When Annabelle finds her Auntie's old journal, she asks about her. Why didn't they ever look for her? Then Tiffany moves in. Tiffany is Nora's new doll (Kate owns the Dolls, Nora is her little sister). Tiffany and Annabelle want to look for Auntie, but can they find her after all these years?
