The Cat in the Hat Comes Back
By DR. SEUSS
This is a book about the Cat in the Hat coming back to Nick and Sally's house and he made a pink dot in the bathtub, and then it gets all over the place, and he has little Cat in the Hats that go from A to Z. I really loved this book. I don't get to read it a lot, but I love it!
The Last Present (Willow Falls)
By Wendy Mass
I absolutely love the Willow Falls series. I have read every book so far, including this one. The ending is sad, but completely surprising. Grace isn't in a coma, and the doctor can't seem to figure out what's wrong. Amanda and Leo must travel back to every one of Grace's birthdays and fix a problem. The cool bit is that their appearances change every time they o back in time. One birthday they are blond and tan, the next black hair and dark skin. They certainly go on an adventure of a lifetime! Plus, Amanda and Leo share a secret _ _ _ _. Read the book to find out it's awesomeness!
City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments) Book Three
By Cassandra Clare
The Mortal Instruments series never fail to suprise me, especially this one. Being the third book out of six books, it's really important how the middle of the series goes because it determins how the direction of story would be later. This book is full of twist and turns which will never dissapoint you. I really like Clary because although she is a shadowhunter, she is like every girl in the world, trying to figure out who they are and figuring out our own identity. The ending of the story was clearly the best part of the whole book, it's a cliff hanger that would want people to find out what's next in the fourth book, it also explained a lot of confusing things that were a mystery to me before. I would surley recommend this book to people around 12~30 because if gives kids a feeling that anything is possible and give adudlts a feeling of their childhood. (just in a more normal way)
The Running Dream
By Wendelin Van Draanen
Jessica, a skilled runner, loses her leg in a car accident. She thinks her life is over when she finds out that she needs a prosthetic leg because her life practically is running. Jessica starts to feel exposed, even when she's with her family. People act like she's practically invisible, until she meets Rosa. Rosa is a girl with cerebral palsy in Jessica's math class that everybody overlooks, especially Jessica. They develop a relationship that wasn't there before, because Rosa can see into Jessica's heart. Her family, teammates, and friends try to raise money for Jessica's prosthetic. Jessica wants to cross the finish line, but not by herself; she's taking Rosa with her. This is a really inspiring story. I'm not a runner, and I prefer lounging on the couch reading a book. In my opinion, I'm a very lazy, procrastinating person. This book made me want to just run. I had really high expectations for this book, but Jessica didn't seem to go out of the average girl-type of bubble. Rosa reminded me of Augutus from TFIOS because she had little pieces of paper that had the most memorable quotes ever. Jessica also had a love interest who was particularly annoying. He ignored Jessica before she got a prosthetic, and just magically started caring for Jessica. I mean, who does that?!? Seriously. I was really worried that Jessica and Rosa wouldn't stay friends after a while. This is because when I read books that have supporting characters with a disability, they help the main character and they they disappear as quickly as they were introduced. This bothers me very much, but at least this book didn't do this. It was a very close call. Overall, I would rate this book a 3.5 out of 5 stars. It was about average. Signing off, -ifeelbookish
There Is a Bird On Your Head! (An Elephant and Piggie Book)
By Mo Willems
I had read this when I was in Kindergarten. I still remember a lot! I'd recommend it for 3-6 year olds. But, your never too old for this book! Gerald was just standing when his best friend, Piggie, noticed there was a bird on his head. I don't remember a lot, but I think the bird ended on Piggie's head at the end
Short Stories of Langston Hughes
By Langston Hughes
Eli
Have you ever given or got a second chance? If you did, you will like the story “Thank you ma'am'' by Langston Hughes. In the beginning the boy Roger tries to steal Mrs. Jones’s purse, and later she gives the boy a second chance. The text teaches me that everyone deserves a second chance. For example the story shows this when Mrs. Jones gives Roger a second chance even though he tried to steal, when Mrs. Jones might have got a second chance so she is doing the same thing for Roger, and when Mrs. Jones gives Roger food and money. This shows that people deserve a second chance. One reason everyone deserves a second chance is because Mrs. Jones gave the boy Roger a second chance even though he tried to steal. For example In the beginning of the story of “Thank you ma’am” Mrs. Jones was walking alone and someone tried to steal Mrs. Jones’s purse. Later on, she brought the boy home to wash his face. Meanwhile Mrs. Jones took her eyes off of the boy, when the boy could have run out the door . . . but he didn’t. In the text it said,“The woman did not watch the boy to see if he was going to run now, nor did she watch her purse which was left behind her on the day-bed.” This shows that she gave him a second chance because everyone deserves one. Another reason everyone deserves a second chance is because Mrs. Jones might have got a second chance when she was young so she is doing the samething for Roger. For example Near the middle of the story Mrs. Jones brings the boy back to Mrs. Jones went home with the boy to wash his face. In the part after that Mrs. Jones and the boy were talking about their lives. The boy then says that he does not have family at his house. Later Mrs. Jones says that she had done things too. In the text it said ,“I have done things, too, which I would not tell you, son-nether tell God, if he didn’t already know.” This shows that someone might have helped her and given her a second chance because they felt the same as Mrs. Jones feel’s for the boy. My last reason everyone deserves a second chance is because Mrs. Jones gave the boy food and money even though he tried to steal. For example In the beginning, middle and end of the story of Thank you ma’am it shows evidence that the text teaches me everyone deserves a second chance. In the beginning Mrs. Jones takes the boty home, then she gives the boy lima beans and ham. This is weird because the boy tried to steal and she is giving him food. Later, the boy said he wants shoes but he does not have money to buy them. Mrs. Jones then gives the boy 10 dollars so the boy can buy shoes. One technique is description. The author did this because the reader would not understand lot’s of things. According to the Author she puts in, “ Now, here, take this 10 dollars and buy some blue suede shoes,” and the text said “ she heated some lima beans and ham she had in the icebox.” This shows that if someone does something bad, you can give them a second chance. In conclusion everyone deserves a second chance, it shows this when Mrs. Jones gave Roger a second chance. When Mrs. Jones might have got a second chance. When Mrs. Jones gives Roger food and money. If this happens like this I will give people a second chance. So, will you give people a second chance?
