Tears of A Tiger by Sharon M. Draper is a part of a series, and the genre of the book is realistic fiction. The book is about a boy named Andy who is a basketball player with his best friend Rob. After a basketball game Andy, Rob, Tyrone, and B.J all get into Andy’s car after drinking beer. Andy is driving on the highway and starts swerving and crashes killing Rob and leaving him injured. Andy is grieving Rob’s death and blames it on himself for Rob’s death. As Andy goes on in life the book focuses on him and how his family and friends help him.

Neftalí lives in Tumeco, Chile and wants to become a writer but his father has other ideas for him. So, Neftalí decides to try and ignore his father by writing on his own. Then his father finds some of his writing and destroys it but Neftalí is still determined to follow his dreams. Topics addressed in this book are equality, passion, and perseverance. I liked this book because it showed how you can still follow your dreams no matter what. I would rate this book a 4 out of 5 and would recommend it to anyone who might be going through a tough time in their life.

The Gold Cadillac, by Milrdred D. Taylor, teaches that segregation is unfair. Wilma’s father bought a new 1950s Gold Cadillac, but it seemed to be causing problems. When he drives down to Mississippi, there looks like opposition is coming. Once, he got arrested from owning the car, because the police thought he had stolen it! Also, there were people who threw things at the car. This was all because the family was black, and that is unfair. Finally, when they had got back home he sold the Cadillac because it caused too much trouble.

Mary Alice, age 15, feels very sorry for herself when she is put on a train by her parents (because they need to get a smaller house where there is no room for her) during the economic slump after "The Great War" (WW1), to live with her grandma (a woman known for being very active and having a gun) in a small town where everyone knows everything. I would recommend this book to age ten and up because it has some parts that are better for older kids (A painter tries to paint the post lady while she has not clothes on, and then a snake falls on her because the painter's studio is in the attic, and the post lady runs back to the post office screaming without her clothes on, and there is also a tiny bit of romance).

This is a nice book that inspires all ages to speak up for themselves. No matter what you want to do to change the world, you can say something and voice your opinion. Overall, I love this book and after reading it I hope it will inspire you.
