Divided We Fall (3 Book Series)

Divided We Fall (3 Book Series)

By Trent Reedy

Did you ever want read a book that is very suspenseful and you won't be able to put down. Well then Divided We Fall by Trent Reedy is definitely your next realistic fiction book. My rating of this book would be 4 stars out of five because I liked how's suspenseful, it was but it could be a little slow in some parts. Divided we fall is about a 17 year old kid named Danny who enlists in the Idaho national guard. He is deployed to stop rioting in the streets. During his mission a civilian throws a rock at him with causes him to jerk his gun. This causes a huge blood bath leaving Danny to blame. Danny then is on the run from the Feds throughout the book. For example it was really suspenseful when Danny was crossing the Idaho border, and hiding in his truck when they searched the car so they wouldn't find him. It was kind of boring in the story when Danny was at home just talking to his mom and trying to get her less stressed. In a way I would say this book is a little bit like divergent because the government does turn against the soldiers. Trent Reedy has also written a second book in the series called a fallen nation. Overall a reader who would enjoy this book is anyone who likes war books and dystopian mixed into one.

Relentless (The Hero Agenda)

Relentless (The Hero Agenda)

By Tera Lynn Childs, Tracy Deebs

Normally, I love Tera Lynn Childs's books but Relentless just didn't do it for me. I liked the first book in the series but the second book was a huge miss. Come on this is a super-hero (or villain as the case may be) book - the sky's the limit (and not even that with superpowers involved). I should have been on the edge of my seat and gripping the book in anticipation of would happen. Yet, I couldn't care less what would happen to the characters. A character could die: Me: ... Book: Hello, are you listening because a character DIED! Me: Wait, what?! Sorry, thinking about what I'll have for lunch. A character died? Book: YES! It's time to weep, cry "NO", and be shocked!!! Me: *Searching inside myself for any emotions about it and not finding any* Sorry, nothing's coming. Book: *Big Huff* For me, if I couldn't care less about what happens then that's a death sentence for any book. Maybe it's just middle-book-syndrome and the third book will be fantastic but I'm critiquing this book. Personally, I thought this series would be a knock-out with Tera Lynn Childs and Tracy Deebs writing it! I had a high standard for this book so that might be why I'm so disappointed. But as they would say on Project Runway, they went too safe when they wrote the book. Side note: The book cover does nothing to sell the book either. I look at it and see generic and uninspiring. A girl and guy walking into some non-distinctive white light with some buildings on the side. Could have been so much more creative.

Canned

Canned

By Alex Shearer

Tins is the same novel as Canned, and I found it was a fiction book that I found slightly entertaining to read. The main character of the story was Fergal, and he had a unique hobby of collecting tins without labels from the bargain basket in the supermarket. Once, he found a finger inside a tin and got caught up to find the mystery behind the finger. The first part of this book was mildly funny, and I loved how Fergal played out scenarios and said things in his head, making him a loveable character. I found that his childish perception of the world allowed him to become overexcited by some things and work methodically with others. However, I did not really enjoy reading the plot of this story because it was too predictable and unrealistic. Even though there was a cliffhanger at the end of almost every chapter, I was always able to easily guess what was going to happen next. Perhaps this was because I was a little too old for the target market, however this does not condone the easily predictable events described throughout this book. Overall, I was not very impressed with the story structure and writing style of this book. Therefore, I will only recommend Tins to younger readers who would like an easy read.

The Shadow Queen (Ravenspire)

The Shadow Queen (Ravenspire)

By C. J. Redwine

I think this is a really nice book, this book is kind of like "Snow White" but just different in some details, for example in this book the princess and the queen they both have magic, but the queen use magic for bad things like killing people, and the princess use magic for good things like use magic to fight with the queen. The queen killed a lot of people. The neighboring kingdom of Eldr when prince Kol's father and older brother was killed by magic so prince Kol need to take care of saving his kingdom. At the end prince Kol meet princess Lorelai and he think she is beautiful, fierce, and unstoppable and despite dark magic.
