With over one million copies sold, this series of modern classics about the charming Penderwick family from National Book Award winner and New York Times bestseller Jeanne Birdsall is perfect for fans of Noel Streatfeild and Edward Eager.

This summer the Penderwick sisters have a wonderful surprise: a holiday on the grounds of a beautiful estate called Arundel. Soon they are busy discovering the summertime magic of Arundel’s sprawling gardens, treasure-filled attic, tame rabbits, and the cook who makes the best gingerbread in Massachusetts. But the best discovery of all is Jeffrey Tifton, son of Arundel’s owner, who quickly proves to be the perfect companion for their adventures.

The icy-hearted Mrs. Tifton is not as pleased with the Penderwicks as Jeffrey is, though, and warns the new friends to stay out of trouble. Which, of course, they will—won’t they? One thing’s for sure: it will be a summer the Penderwicks will never forget.

Deliciously nostalgic and quaintly witty, this is a story as breezy and carefree as a summer day.

This book is one of my favorite books. The story has so many surprises and a interesting boy. There are a lot of problems that they have to solve. The author surprised me in the book so many times. When I read the first page I thought it was going to be boring. Then when I got to the middle of the book I couldn't stop reading.

I'm usually more into fantasy than fiction, but the Penderwicks, I just can't get enough of. The books show perfectly the craziness of a large family, with some slight exaggeration. I have read all of the books and own two (this one and The Penderwicks at Point Mouette).

I LOVE this book, it is a story about 4 sisters, that go to arundel for the summer, and fun adventures keep coming in.

I LOVED this book! You seriously just can't stop reading it! It's about 4 sisters ( Rosalind, Skye, Jane and Batty) and their crazy adventures.

I loved this book! Felt so bad for Jeffery

I love The Penderwicks. I am alot like Skye. She is my favorite character. I so cant wait till the 4th book comes out.

I really like this book , I read it for my battle of the books team , but i don't really like how Jeffrey's mom treats him and the Penderwick girls , you people should read this book it's really interresting .
