A hilarious, action-packed New York Times bestselling series launches with a story-within-a-story, from the author of the Half Upon a Time trilogy.

Life is boring when you live in the real world, instead of starring in your own book series. Owen knows that better than anyone, what with the real world’s homework and chores.

But everything changes the day Owen sees the impossible happen—his classmate Bethany climb out of a book in the library. It turns out Bethany’s half-fictional and has been searching every book she can find for her missing father, a fictional character.

Bethany can’t let anyone else learn her secret, so Owen makes her a deal: All she has to do is take him into a book in Owen’s favorite Kiel Gnomenfoot series, and he’ll never say a word. Besides, visiting the book might help Bethany find her father…

…Or it might just destroy the Kiel Gnomenfoot series, reveal Bethany’s secret to the entire world, and force Owen to live out Kiel Gnomenfoot’s final (very final) adventure.

I need to read it because I have already read the 1st Story Thieves and also I really want to find out who is Bethany's father is and I have been dying t read it. Also it left off at a cliff hanger at the end of the last book so yeah but anyways I think the book is going to be like really really really really really amazing to read.

I love the book story thives!

I love this book. It's so good! WARNING: the characters are not very good role models, such as Bethany doing things behind her mom's back, and being mean to Owen and not doing the right thing, just because Owen would do it (she finds Owen very stupid and annoying). And there is a lot of lying, and Owen hides the truth from Bethany and carries out a plan, even when Bethany tells him how DANGEROUS it can be! He should have listened to her, even though she is a hot-head. And there is some surgery, which might make some readers feel uncomfortable. Just a heads-up to let you know. I recommend it for ages 8+, or maybe 7+. And if you like this book, then you will like KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES. Read both books. Owen is just a normal kid who lives in the normal world. But that's the problem--life is so boring when you live in the real world and not star as the hero in your very own book series (boring except for reading the Kiel Gnomenfoot magic quest series. NOT BORING AT ALL!). His everyday life is so boring until he sees Bethany climb out of a book in the library where his mother works. It takes some convincing, but Bethany finally tells Owen that she's half-fictional (if that's confusing, her mother is a normal person like Owen, and her father is a fictional character who found his way out of his books and married Bethany's mom) and that she's searching for her 100% fictional father, who went missing when she accidentally jumped herself, her friends, and him into a book at her fourth birthday party. She jumped herself and her friends out, but she has not seen her father since she left him in the book. Owen has just the thing to help her find her dad (or knows OF it). It's a spell in the Kiel Gnomenfoot books--a location spell. But Owen isn't really going into the book to get Bethany access to a spell. He wants to save the Magister, Kiel's magic teacher who is about to be killed by the evil Mad Scientist, Dr. Verity. Owen just can't let that happen, so he changes the plot--with some very mixed results! Owen is where Kiel should be, Kiel is where Owen should be, and the girls are facing some serious situations with the annoying boys (if you're wondering, Bethany and Kiel are facing the Magister, and Owen, who is disguised as Kiel in the last book, is teaming up with Charm, the lovable half-robotic girl. They both face impossible challenges, both in the fictional and nonfictional world, and face difficult choices. I think you will like this awesome book.

So good. I finished the whole series!

Me to!!!

Bethany is half fictional. So, she basically jumps in random books and having fun until Owen sees her.

Lemme tell you guys that haven't read story something. If you read this book i guarantee you are gonna want the rest of the series like, immediately. YA'LL SERIOUSLY GOTTA READ THIS BOOK MAN! this book is about a normal kid named Owen. he is a normal kid... that is, until he saw a girl named Bethany. In my opinion, Bethany is kinda bossy and quick about things. Owen seriously has got to be more useful. Well anyways, Bethany gets caught trying to go into a book by Owen, so she makes her a deal; All he has to do is keep quiet and she will let him go into his favorite series, Kiel Gnomenfoot. The whole point of the series is to find Bethany's father, who is missing. It can either go uphill or downhill from there. (Also a VERY VERY special character appears in the later series. Ill give ya'll a hint: He's a total Nobody. You will understand what i mean when u get later into the series😉) Now I've told ya'll a little bit of the book. Now do me a favor and go to your library or wherever you get books and get this book right now (Or whenever you can)

This book. This book is the one that started it all. My love for this series started with this precious bok. I love how the author tied in everything, making Story thieves a book in story thieves, which might sound confusing, but it is not if you read the book! My favorite part is the beginning when Owen faints after seeing Bethany's hand disappear inside a book! It was so funny! I hope you guys love this book as much as I did and make sure to read the rest of the series!

Amazing book! Full of adventure, comedy, and fantasy. Great for readers always wondering what people were hiding and if there was another world like ours. The fictional the to our world brings out a great book. I completely recommend it.

This book was AMAZING! I loved the surprise when Owen discovers Bethany's powers and took Keil's place. What happened next was even better. The magister takes Bethany's powers and Owen starts adventuring with Charm. In the end, Owen sacrifices his life and Bethany beats the Magister. I loved the book's twists and turns. 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book to kids 9+.

This book was incredible. The plot had great twists and turns, the adventure ad action is always high, and the characters are super lovable. I can't wait to read the second one!
