I don't really like this book because although the characters' personalities are interesting, what's happening is confusing and not that interesting.

After finding a compass and clues left by Kallista's father, Leo Babbage, Trenton and Kallista head west aboard their homemade mechanical dragon to search for the missing inventor. The two teenagers hope to find answers about their mountain city of Cove, but instead, they find only a blackened forest, ruined buildings, and a small underground city
Almost immediately, Trenton and Kallista are caught up in a civil war between a clan of scavengers called Whipjacks and the Order of the Beast, people who believe that dragons are immortal and divine.
Stranded in a new city, the two friends meet Plucky, a Whipjack girl with mechanical legs, and Ander, a young member of the Order who claims humans are able to communicate with dragons. Can they trust anyone, or have they unknowingly stepped into a trap?
And high above in the sky, the dragons are gathering . . .

A book full of mystery, adventure, arduous activities, and anything your heart desires- this book encompasses a story of a true hero. Meet Trenton and Kallista, this whole adventure wraps around those two pairs working together to find where Kallista's father, Leo Babbage, disappeared off too.... Of course with the help of a special creature, a dragon, which serves as ship... After being leaded to many different places- they end up going to city of nowhere- more specifically an underground city- they soon find out that there is a civil war between the Order of the Beast and the Whipjacks... and the pair gets captured by the Whipjacks!!!! DUN DUN DUNNNN!!! And it's fair to say that... it's only the beginning.... Now what is going on right now??? Who knows??? What can Kallista and Trenton do?? Honestly... right now... they can't do anything because they are held in captive- but afterwards they find out that Kallista's dad was in the same toes as them... And they also meet new people like Ander, Plucker, and Cochrane... That Cochrane made me question everything.... And Ander came and go really quickly... Which makes (probably all) readers question everything... Honestly there's too much going on without spoiling everything- I like to clarify that I did not read the first book... despite that, overall this book was amazing, adventurous, suspenseful, and honestly it was SAVAGE... no wonder why J. Scott SAVAGE wrote this (no, ye??? puns??? Sorry, I just love puns... but XD)... So despite reading the first book- I'm really interested to read the third book... because aren't you interested? Did this spark you interest at all- because you can be honest.... Where is Leo Babbage?? Will Trenton and Kallista complete their duty?? Who can they trust?? Will Trenton's and Kallista's relationship be stronger or actually worsen??? Honestly, this story gives an amazing moral... and it was a nice, sweet, cliffhanging story. ENJOY! :D
the is so cool and i like j.scott savage read it love you you cool you are the best wriiter in the wonld
Mysteries of Cove: Gears of Revolution by J. Scott Savage is a book worthy of your time. This book focuses on Trenton and Kallista, who are “friends” in some sort of way. Kallista is the daughter of the great inventor, Leo Baggage. Leo Baggage designed this “dragon,” which is actually a ship that looks and acts like a dragon. They fly the dragon so that Kallista can find her father, who has gone missing but left some clues behind. As they venture out on this dangerous journey, they see that beyond their city in the mountain, the outside world is filled with dragons and endless land, as far as the eye can see. They face many obstacles along the way – they fight off dragons and are captured by Whipjacks, residents of the city of Seattle. Luckily, Trenton and Kallista escaped, but when they journeyed back to their homeland, they find out that their own city is in trouble as it was invaded by the Whipjacks! Read this book to find out how Trenton and Kallista work together to save their own city, and how they continued their quest to find Kallista’s father despite the challenges. I really enjoyed this book, and I hope you do too!
Last time J. Scott Savage left us in the last Mysteries of Cove book, Fires of Invention, friends and mechanics Trenton and Kallista were looking for Kallista's genius father, Leo. This book jumps right into the adventure. Trenton and Kallista use their artificial dragon named Ladon to fight the real, deadly dragons. In a forest where they find refuge, they find hints that will lead them to Leo, who has disappeared for two years. The clues lead them to the underground city of Seattle, where two different sides fight for themselves. The Whipjacks are the one group who are the builders and all-around rougher part of Seattle. The Order of the Beast is the group who fancy themselves in believing that the dragons are immortal and can communicate mentally with humans. Captured by both, Trenton and Kallista eventually are forced to help the Whipjacks. But in the city of Seattle, not all is as it seems. Friends become enemies, enemies somehow try to strive for justice, and Trenton and Kallista find themselves in a tangle of lies and questions. Where is Leo Babbage? Who is meeting with Cochrane? What was Ander going to say and why did Plucky shift sides? Most importantly, what is going on? The first pages of the book seem a little slow, but the plot gets better and better every time you turn the page!
If you're looking for a book that's full of action, unpredictable plot twists, and characters you can't help but loving, you've found it! In this incredible book, Trenton and Kallista continue their journey to find her father, the famous inventor Leo Babbage. On the way, they get caught up in an underground city's problems and plans for defeating the dragons and they have to put their search aside. But, as the story goes on, Trenton and Kallista discover more about the city and it's past and they begin to wonder who they can trust. This book will suck you into it's realm and never let you out until the last page is turned and the book is closed. And the lingering aftertaste will keep you on your toes in hopes that Mr. Savage will write the third book quickly!
Trenton and Kallista have just followed the clues and plans left by Kallista's father Leo Babbage to build a flying dragon machine called Landon. Now they are on the search to find Kallista's father. They hope that they will find answers in the city of Seattle. But instead all they find is a burnt-down forest, ruined buildings, and an underground city. And when they are taken down into the city they find the beginnings of a civil war between the Whipjacks, and the Order of the Beast, a group of people who believe dragons are immortal gods. They have a truce with the emerald dragon that reign the sky above, and who protects them from other dragons. But recently the green dragon has disappeared-and Kallista and Trenton know where-and the other dragons have attacked. After being imprisoned for invading, they are saved by Cochrane, a friend of Kallista father who only recently left the city. Cochrane enlists the help of the pair to help him on several machines in order to defeat the dragons-although the orders think they are protecting the city from invaders. Trenton and Kallista must hide the fact that they killed the dragon when he attacked their city in the weeks before. But through all the work Trenton does around the machines, Kallista is obsessed with the pursuit of knowledge and finding out where her father is. But strange things are going on. Who can Kallista and Trenton trust? Who are their friends? Is Cochrane, the dimber damber? Is Plucky the Whipjack girl with mechanical legs? What about Ander, the young member of the Order who keeps hanging around? And where has Leo Babbage disappeared to? I loved that I was kept on the edge of my seat during this book. I was always wondering what was coming next, and who I could trust. I really liked that it was a fresh fantasy, that combined elements of magic, but also had lots of problem solving and more practical work with mechanics and technology. I would not suggest reading this book without the 1st book of the series. Otherwise it is hard to understand. I recommend this book to fantasy lovers and adventure lovers. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
