The Newbery Medal-winning author of Walk Two Moons, Sharon Creech, brings readers a story with enormous heart.

Love That Dog shows how one boy named Jack finds his voice with the help of a teacher, a pencil, some yellow paper, and of course, a dog. Written as a series of free-verse poems from Jack's point of view, and with classic poetry included in the back matter, this novel is perfect for kids and teachers, too.

Jack hates poetry. Only girls write it and every time he tries to, his brain feels empty. But his teacher, Ms. Stretchberry, won't stop giving her class poetry assignments—and Jack can't avoid them. But then something amazing happens. The more he writes, the more he learns that he does have something to say.

"I guess it does
look like a poem
when you see it
typed up
like that."

I enjoyed this book but at the same time I kinda just wanted to make me fall over and cry , seriously. Although I liked and enjoyed the book I wish we were given less facts about what is going on and more detail. Overall I still recommend this book I'm just warning you about the sad ending.

Great book. Tells a story through a series of poems. this book proves that poems can be interesting

This book I can totally relate to. Jack is covinced that he can't write poetry, and that only girls do. All he needed though was his feelings to be releashed and a little inspiration.

This book is very good because it has problum and solution there are two main chartars the teacher and the student.

i would recommend this book for people trying to write a poem plus its a really good book. i myself like this book its really entertaining.

This book is so inspiring!!!!!! I made a text to self connection with Jack because when I first started poetry I didn't want my name on the poem either, I was scared!!!!!!I recommend this book,so outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this book so much because its a poetry book and it has a ton of poems about kids and he says like that girls only write poems I recommend this book!

I really like this book a lot but it makes me feel sad and i would recommend this book for people who like poetry this book is also about poetry and a dog now I think the theme is overcome challenges and never give up because she never gave up.

I LOVED this book, especially because its a poetry, its a really good book about a boy who has to write a poetry for class and he doesn't want to until he finds an author who writes lots of poetry and he connects some of that authors "words" and makes his own poetry, his teacher realizes how much he loves that author and haves him write to the author, and the author ends up going to his school!
