The novel takes place surrounding the town of Swindon, England around 1998. This is where the speaker, Christopher John Francis Boone, discovers the sudden death of the neighbor’s poodle. He’s found to have a caliber of high intelligence and decides to investigate the killing of the dog. The journey of investigation gives him the opportunity to experience self-discovery. He is known from the beginning to have behavioral problems, which could be a reference to a social disorder. I believe that this creates the significance of the novel, as it shows the auditors a different perspective on life.

Despite the negative reviews, this movie was humorous and funny! However, there are some parts of the movie that younger children would not understand. There are some explicit words in this movie so I do recommend it for kids in grades 5 and up. However, the majority of the movie is humorous and family friendly and is enjoyable! I recommend this movie to dog lovers and humorous people!
