Growing up, we always used to eat our pumpkins, but a few years ago, when I tried to do this for my child, I discovered that it doesn't always work. "Carving pumpkins" are not delicious. Their meat is hard - even after steaming for a couple of hours - and it's completely lacking in flavor. As such, we have stopped buying them. There are many other types of winter squash that can be carved and/or decorated that taste so much better (sugar pie, fairytale, casper, etc). And considering pumpkin is one of my son's favorite veggies, being able to make a meal of it is really important.
No kidding, this has to be one of my favorite books of all time! The story is complicated, with all the twists and turns. Every time you flip the page, there is something exciting or funny waiting for you. For the people who haven't read this book, I would definitely recommend it. 5 STARS!!!
