Mini-Me - A Doll That Looks Just Like You!

Ever wished you could have a twin that looks and sounds just like you? - well your wish can now be granted. A Japanese company called Little Island is offering custom-made robots that eerily resemble their owners.

Called 'Mini-Me', the dolls can be ordered by simply sending the company your photo, address and a hefty check and voila, six-weeks later, you have a twin!.

While the doll itself is fun, what's even more fun is the fact that thanks to an inbuilt voice recognition software and microphone, it talks just like you. Once connected to the specified local area network, the doll can interact with its owner, belting out weather reports and other information it receives from the network.

Equipped with touch sensors, the doll also nods and waves intelligently on demand. The only drawback is that it doesn't move its lips at all, which is a little strange initially, especially when one doesn't know where the sound is coming from.

As you have probably guessed the Mini-Me, which can be ordered directly from the company's website (http://littleisland.biz/english/index.htm) is not cheap, and ranges from about $800 USD for the look-alike version, to a whopping $5,500 USD for their premium 'bridal model'. But it's a small price price to pay,especially if you have always wanted a twin!
