Smart Girls Get What They Want

Smart Girls Get What They Want

By Sarah Strohmeyer

This book, Smart Girls Get What They Want by Sarah Strohmeyer, is a book girls can really relate to about breaking out of their shells. Throughout the story, Gigi and her two best friends try to become more popular and to be more sociable, instead of always studying and reading. Along the way, they discover who they truly are and meet different people that they've never noticed before. One of my favorite characters is Henry, who is Neerja's best friend/neighbour. I really like him as a character because he is always trying to help Neerja out, doing everything a friend can do. I really recommend this book to people who want to break out of their shells, or to girls who like realistic fiction novels.

Shift

Shift

By Jennifer Bradbury

“Shift” is a story about two best friends Chris and Win biking across the country, which Win disappeared in the journey. Jennifer Bradbury made the characters seem absolutely realistic and did a very great job on the development of Chris realizing the truth about his friend Win. I really liked this book because I can relate to Chris’s feelings and thoughts, and it seemed as if I was helping him put the pieces of the puzzle together by reading the book. I could say that “Shift” is one of the engrossing and captivating mysteries that I ever read.

Bakuman., Vol. 1

Bakuman., Vol. 1

By Tsugumi Ohba

Great series by the creator of Death Note. Glad Viz decided to release it in America despite it having less action then the average Shonen Jump title.

Wish, Vol. 4

Wish, Vol. 4

By Clamp

This was the series that introduced me to CLAMP. Wish is a three volume manga about a human doctor named Shuichiro who one day stumbles upon the angel Kohaku and saves her life. Kohaku offers to grant Shuichro a wish as thanks for saving her, but he refuses, claiming he can surely grant any wish he might have through his own hard work. Kohaku persists, saying 'surely there must be a wish one can't grant alone. Let me stay with you until you find it!' Thus, the two wind up living together. But trouble is brewing in both Heaven and Hell... will Kohaku be able to remain? Warning: Contains very attractive demons. Rated PG-13 for suggestive content.
