Mary Anne's Bad-Luck Mystery (Baby-Sitters Club)

Mary Anne's Bad-Luck Mystery (Baby-Sitters Club)

By Ann M. Martin

When Mary Anne finds an unsuspecting chain-letter in her mailbox, she is undeterred. But soon the innocent seeming letter turn out to be a curse. Everything goes wrong for the BSC girls while babysitting until one day Mary Anne finds a charm that she must wear "or else". How could a seemingly innocent chain letter turn out to be such a mysterious curse? I thought this book was great. Going in a more of a mystery dialogue, Ann M. Martin captures the spookiness of Halloween and the thrill of trying the find the suspect of the mysterious chain letters. This book was fun to read, a little spooky, and sometimes funny. I suggest if you like mysteries, friendship, and babysitting. Happy reading!

Persephone the Phony (Goddess Girls)

Persephone the Phony (Goddess Girls)

By Joan Holub, Suzanne Williams

Persephone is fed up with her mom. Sure, she knows that Demeter is just looking out for her best interests, but she can get so overprotective sometimes! Persephone still has to live with her mom on Mount Olympus, conform by her strict rules, and tell her exactly where she's going. Curfews, policies...Persephone's tired of it all. So when she ventures into a mortal graveyard, she knows she's breaking a ton of her mom's rules, but she's too weary to listen to her better judgment. And, even better, Persephone meets a nice godboy there - Hades! At first, Persephone is afraid of the gloomy-looking boy, but soon realizes the sunshine of his true personality. Yet, when Demeter realizes her goddess-of-spring daughter is hanging out with the Underworld king, she's furious and becomes more forebodingly strict than ever before. Desperate and confused, Persephone tries to break out of her rule-bidden walls, but it may cost her everything. Mischievous and enthralling, Persephone the Phony is the perfect novel for those who have felt caged in by rules.

The Julian Chapter: A Wonder Story (Kindle Single)

The Julian Chapter: A Wonder Story (Kindle Single)

By R. J. Palacio

I remember that when I first read Wonder, I had WONDERED what the story would be like from Julian's perspective. I gave this book two stars because it was almost exactly the same as Wonder. I was curious to know what Julian had to say, but I feel like R.J. Polacio only wrote it because readers wanted to hear from Julian's point of view. I think the story would have been better if it was in Wonder, and not in a seperate book. Please know that I'm not saying Wonder was a bad book. I read Wonder at least five times, I loved it so much. But I don't think that it was necessary for R.J. Polacio to write this one. 365 Days of Wonder was a good book because it had a lot of prefects, and it went with the story, but not too much like in the Julian chapter. Anyhow, this is what the Julian Chapter is about. The Julian Chapter is basically Wonder from Julian's perspective. If you don't remember from Wonder, is the bully who gets punched by Jack Will. In the book, I feel like R.J. Polacio skipped some moments that were written in Wonder which I would have loved to read about from Julian's chapter. And although she tells why Julian wouldn't come back to Beecher Prep, I feel like instead at the end she should have made Julian decide to go back to Beecher and try again the next year. And have a big reason to. I was very dissapointed with the book. After reading Wonder I thought The Julian Chapter would have been better than what I read. Sorry for the super LOOOOOOOONG review! Thanks for reading.

Invisible Emmie

Invisible Emmie

By Terri Libenson

Invisible Emmie is a book about a girl that really wants to be like THE girl. At school, she feels like she's invisible and wants her crush, Tyler Ross to notice her. When it's lunchtime and Emmie and her BFF, Bri, they both write gushy-mushy love letters about their crushes. After lunch, Emmie rushes out and accidentally drops her note. A guy named Joe picks it up and shows everyone that Emmie knows the note. When Emmie finds out that the note is spreading fast like wildfire, she gets more 'anti-social' and she's starting to get quieter. Emmie then starts to get emotional and cries in the bathroom. A really popular girl notices Emmie and starts to 'save' her from her misery. When Emmie starts to boost herself up and get more sociable, she forgets about the popular girl (Katie). I want to stop it here because I want you to experience this story, and this will be recommended to those who always felt invisible and insecure. Enjoy the book!

Stacey's Choice (Baby-Sitters Club, 58)

Stacey's Choice (Baby-Sitters Club, 58)

By Ann M. Martin

Stacey is torn! Ever since her parents divorced, Stacey has to constantly had to choose between her parents. So, when both her parents need her very badly, Stacey doesn't want to have to choose between her parents. AGAIN. What is she going to do? I loved this book! It was all about family, babysitting, and friendship. In this story, the reader gets to see Stacey in a new light. In this book she is no longer the sophisticated, NYC girl, instead she's a mature, bright, and caring girl who wants to please both her mom and her dad. I really liked this book because it was funny and fun to read. I suggest if you like babysitting, reading about families, and friendship! Happy reading!
