Wiping her hands on the cloth tucked into her apron strings, Sophie moved out from behind the counter of the empty coffee shop and stepped up to the window, watching men emerge from the car across the street. ' (Quoted from book) 'The Alchemyst' by Michael Scott is for those who love constant action and suspense. The book is mainly a fantasy, but there are historical figures, such as Nicholas and Perenelle Flamel, weaved into the story. In fact, Nicholas Flamel's name on the cover (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel) is what drew me to select this book. I've read a few books in which he was mentioned, and soon came to realize that Flamel was not a character in a singular story, but a real person, and I selected the book to find out what personality this author gave him. In the book he is deceptive, and yes, immortal. His deceptiveness is most prominent at the beginning of the story, where he and his wife are disguised as Nick and Perry Fleming. They own a local bookstore at which Josh Newman is employed. Josh's twin sister, Sophie, works across the street at a coffee shop. When Perry visits Sophie at the coffee shop, there is a disturbance in the bookstore, and they both hurry over to see what's wrong. When they enter, they are met with havoc. Dr. John Dee, an ally of the Dark Elders, seeks Flamel's secret to immortality: The Codex. Josh and Sophie realize that the Flemings are not who they say they are while Flamel and Dee are speaking to one another, Dee using magic to pull the book from where it was hidden. Josh seizes the book in a moment of confusion, but then Dee takes the book and Perenelle and leaves. What he doesn't realize, though, is that when he snagged the book from Josh's grasp, two very important pages were ripped from the book, and he is left with only part of what he wants. Nicholas, Sophie and Josh are being hunted, and they don't know who to trust. Flamel has helped them so far, but what exactly are his motives? An exciting part in the story was when Nicholas, Sophie, and Scathatch are struggling to fend off the skeletal army Dee has awakened. Josh is seperated from them, and the fog makes it impossible for them to find each other. It is very suspenseful. My favorite passage, though, was as follows: ' "The girl has one of the purest silver auras I've encountered in many an age. She needs to be taught some spells of personal protection if she is to survive the rest of the Awakening process. The fact that she's still sane and whole these many hours later is testament to her strength of will." ' I liked this passage because it shows just how mentally strong Sophie is, and portrays her as a tough character. I can understand what Josh feels like when Sophie gains her powers. He feels alone, abandoned. I can relate to this because whenever my sisters spend the night at a friend's house, it feels wrong in the house. It just doesn't feel right, and I can imagine how Josh feels through this connection. I highly recommend 'The Alchemyst' by Michael Scott to those who enjoy reading stories filled with action and high suspense. I also recommend this book to people who love history and fantasy, as this book tweaks the personalities of real people and spins them into tales of fantasy.

This was a very interesting book. I thought it was fun to read and enjoyed the magic and learning about the Amish people in America. This book had good action and it was a very interesting story about a boy named Lachy and his friend the Dragon who gave him magical powers. I think everyone should read this book, I am sure that they will love it, just like I did. I wish book two would come out.

Heir Apparent is the story where Giannine is stuck in a hyper-realistic virtual reality after angry protesters attack and break the life support. So now Giannine has to complete the game in a certain amount of time before she dies in real life. This book connects to me through escapism and Giannie herself. Overall, not the best I've read but not the worst, that's why it's rated 3 stars

such a good book. This is about a 10-11 year old girl named Winnie, who wants to run away. So, she wanders off into the family's wood, where she ends up to a place where she sees a teenage boy, drinking water. His name is Jesse. He says she shouldn't drink the water, and manages to pull her away. We later find out that the water is like a youth fountain, but in this case makes you live forever. Jesse drank it because he already drank it before with his family. (Tuck, Mae, and his brother Miles.) Tuck regrets drinking it, and Jesse is delighted. Winnie gets kidnapped by them in a friendly way, and then his mom, Mae, and his brother, Miles, come with a horse and take her back to their small cottage. Before all of this, a strange man who is called, "The Man in the Yellow Suit", is very suspicious around them, and of course that is where all the trouble occurs. The man follows them home, and steals their horse. Some other crazy things happen, but I won't spoil the whole book, even though I spoiled already like half of it. Really good book. I would probably rate it 4.5 stars out of 5. Read it.(No, I don't speak Spanish)

In my opinion, I really disliked this book. One reason why is because its confusing to know where they are at the moment. names.Another reason why is because there are clans and I don't know what clan a certain cat is in. The last reason why is it lost my interest in how they keep trying to escape the cages. My favorite part is when the cats roam around in the forest and when they go on adventures You might like this book if you like Adventure books.

Dennys and Sandy are supposed to be the "normal ones" in the Murry family. But that all changes when they accidently mess with one of their father's experiments. The twins are thrown across space and time, and find themselves in a desert. It turns out they're in the same desert as Noah from the bible story "Noah's Ark" in the same time! The twins have to find a way to get home before the whole world floods. What I thought of it: I was excited that the twins actually got their own book because they aren't really main characters in the other books. I was glad that this book gave us more insight into their personalities. But some parts of the book were like "Seriously? You're really going to put that in a kids book?". I was surprised at that because none of the other books had anything like that in them. I wasn't as good as the first or second book, but it wasn't bad. Over all it was pretty good.

You must be a real thrill seated for this book but it is awesou don't be afraid of it though it is more suspense than anything else although it talks about ghosts a whole lot #sort of scary
