Riding Freedom

Riding Freedom

By Pam Munoz Ryan

Though almost everyone knows Susan B. Anthony, little people know about Charlotte Darkey Parkhurst. Riding Freedom is based on her life. Born in the early 1800s, Charlotte's parents are killed in a stagecoach accident. She is sent to an orphanage. After her parents died, you would think Charlotte would be terrified of horses, but she loves them. When people say she can't go to the stables anymore, she disguises herself as a boy and runs away from the orphanage. Will She be discovered? I liked this book because it includes facts about a historical figure I didn't even know. This book is perfect for anyone who likes real facts in fiction books.

Bud, Not Buddy

Bud, Not Buddy

By Christopher Paul Curtis, Literature Connections, Holt McDougal

This is a hilarious story with mind blowing characters. This gives you a very god idea of what it was like during the 1930s and makes you feel so much more thankful for what we have, now. The crazy thing about this is you are learning and getting a good laugh at the same time! I would definately recommend this book and am proud to say this is one of my 2 favorite books ever!!!
