The town of Fry is a magical place located in Logan County. Strange animals live there and weird things happen at Fry. Otto and. Sheed, the town's adventurers, have survived many dangerous adventures in Logan County. But can they make it out of this one alive? One day, on the last day of summer, Otto and Shee go onto Harkness Hill to discuss ideas for adventures. Suddenly, a stranger appears and presents them with a camera. They take a picture, but soon, all of Fry is frozen in time. Who is this villain? And more importantly, how can Otto and Sheed unfreeze Logan County. This book was great, but the time travel sometimes didn't make much sense.
Soccer Trophy Mystery (Fred Bowen Sports Story Series, 24)
By Bowen, Fred
Aiden plays soccer on the Thunder team with his friend Daniel, and they are bound and determined to win the trophy this year. When they go to the library with Aiden's twin sister Ava to get copies of Wharton's The Age of Innocence for school, they learn from the librarian that the trophy is question is a replacement, the original one having been stolen from the library forty years previously. The mystery was never solved, and since the twins' grandmother had been a librarian at that time, they decide to investigate. Their grandmother is 84, and her memory is not the best, but she does give them a few clues. They interview the police chief at the time, who is very helpful and interested, as well as the soccer coach, who is not. Daniel mentions that this is not the first missing soccer trophy, and the trio delve into the story of the disappearance of the World Cup trophy in 1983, which has never been solved. When the solution to the mystery ends up being closer to home than they ever imagined, how will they handle it? Strengths: They are short, strong enough on sports details that I don't quite understand some of them (which is a GOOD thing), and have characters who work really well together. Adding an element of mystery to this is perfect, and a great way to let fans of early chapter book mysteries like Ron Roy's or David A. Kelly's Ballpark Mysteries challenge themselves a bit. The retro cover is attractive, and different from the regular sports books, and there's a bit more sports history than Bowen usually has, which is interesting, but the girl power message remains strong. I'm curious to see if Aiden and Ava get to do more investigation. Weaknesses: Bowen hasn't written much in the way of mysteries, so there are a few clunky moments when the kids decide to investigate that could have been avoided. The slight Encyclopedia Brown vibe will work well with younger students, but older ones who love mysteries will expect a more serious mystery. Think Souders' Coop Knows the Scoop-- it's a historical MURDER mystery. It was a bit unnerving when the kids went to visit the former police chief and he just invited them into his house to chat. Sure, Encyclopedia would have done that, but that seems like a bad idea in 2021. What I really think: Sports books are always super popular in my library, and Bowen's books see high circulation. It's good to see that Bowen made it to first base with this book, but it wasn't quite a home run.

The Terrible Two Get Worse
By Mac Barnett, Jory John
After Miles and Niles getting together to finalize their perfect prank... it started... one by one... pranking the principal..... And after the last straw... they did it... they spelled out a message with flowers which led on to firing Principal Barkin by his older father... (the not so nice principal... he honestly is the terrible one XD) SO Bertrand Barkin has absolutely no weaknesses... you know "what kills you makes you stronger" is honestly so true... because every time the pranksters keep on pranking the school it always backfires and becomes stronger... After a couple more weeks later everybody turned into his minions.. no joke... seriously... no pranks or jokes were allowed... After this... Miles and Niles came up with this terrible (but so-brilliant plan) which included.... DUN DUN DUNN... the former Principal Barkin... honestly that caught me off guard... but the story perfectly weaved together... I absolutely loved this book... it was hilarious yet with that perfect touch of seriousness.. If you are an aspiring prankster... I urge you to read this book... in fact I'll tell you the Prankster Oath... which states, " On my honor I will do my best. To be good at being bad. To disrupt, but not destroy; To embarrass the dour and amuse the merry... For I am a prankster. So be it..." It's a pretty good oath... Shhh don't tel anyone but I recited it as well... So if you want a laugh read this amusing book... because it brought a smile to my face... and one more word of advice... a clothespin ALWAYS work way better than a gas mask... And prepare to laugh... And for those who did not read the first book.. I'll post my review for the first book.. to give a "little insight..." This book brought my level of happiness maxed out!!!! This book was hilarious all the way to the end, I don't remember a time not smiling... it was that funny...this book had cool facts about cows I did not know about like did you know that cows produce more milk with classical milk! Yeah, we don't really need to know about it, but it's a random fact that I considered to remember as I am currently typing...I really liked how the author weaved in comics, cows, and pranks in the story... WAIT the pranks are awesome... if you read this book, this is one reason why to be a prankster...Also the pictures were good sketches that helped make the story funnier and you could really notice the tiny details in this story by the cute sketches... So it starts with Miles Murphy who is very gloomy because he is moving and is on his way to Yawnee Valley... Miles had this huge rep in his old school being the grand master of pranking... but now since Miles is moving he needs to step up his game because there is a very good prankster at his school... Surprises, twists and turns... the prankster turns out to be...(Guess who??? Well read and find out) well they had a prank war, and finally compromised to make the best prank ever in history... and guess which day...(Well I hoped you guessed it right)and you guessed it right April Fools Day!!!! With twists and turns, a crazy principal, funky cows, smart friends, the "best" frenemy this book had exceeded it's title to be the one of the most funniest book ever :-)!! Will the huge prank work??? Will Miles and (Niles) able to work it out together??? Will they ever meet Cody Burr-Tyler (I'm joking with that, but still you would know if you read it... so READ it)??? Fans of Diary of the Wimpy Kid series, The Brilliant World of Tom Gates, and funny and adventurous books, this book, The Terrible Two, will be a perfect and hilarious read!!

The Losers Club
By Andrew Clements
Alec is always getting in trouble for reading when he's supposed to be paying attention in class. He can't put a good book down, which unfortunately leads to the Principal's decision that Alec has to pay attention or else. In order to legitimately squeeze in his reading time he starts a club in his after-school program. A club where he only reads, and is called the Loser's Club so no one else will join. But before he knows it the club starts to grow....and he starts to learn that real life can be pretty interesting too. I really liked this book! I felt like it was a really unique tale, I liked reading about a boy who is so passionate about reading. I recommend this book to elementary school kids and up, and to both girls and boys. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
The Odd Squad, Bully Bait (An Odd Squad Book)
By Michael Fry
The funniest parts of this book were: having to crawl through a vent system to find a stuffed animal and sitting next to a cat while eating tuna. The most exciting part was when someone went through a window just like a spy.
