Strings Attached

Strings Attached

By Judy Blundell

This is a story about Kathleen Corrigan, nick named as Kit, who is a seventeen year old girl. Her mother died while giving birth to her, her brother and her sister who were triplets. They lived with their father and got a lot of help from their aunt Delia, who treated them as if they were her sons and daughters. Then, aunt Delia moved away and they didn’t know where she went from then on. Kit had a boyfriend named Billy, who gets angry and jealous with Kit and moves her away. He later enlisted in the army with Kit’s brother, Jamie. Kit later moved to New York City, being a showgirl/chorus girl and having barely enough to live. She met Nate Benedict, Billy’s father. He offered her clothes and an apartment that she didn’t have to pay. He told her that if she accepted what he offered, she would need to write to Billy, persuading him to return before he goes to the Korean War. She agreed after all because she still loved Billy and she needed an apartment. Nate Benedict gave her a hand to being a Lido doll and later asked her to do favors. While being at the apartment, the apartment revealed mysteries about the relationship between Nate Benedict and her aunt Delia. I really liked this character because she’s strong, beautiful and smart. This book contains mysteries, love, murder and surprises, and it is an astonishing book.

CuteBunnies

This was a very interesting book. It has lots of characters! It even has a real place in one of the chapters: Ye Olde Sphaghetti. My favorite part in the book was the end.

Coram Boy (Costa Children's Book Award (Awards))

Coram Boy (Costa Children's Book Award (Awards))

By Jamila Gavin

Coram Boy is a book that is set it in the 18th century and I feel as if this book was really detailed and the writing felt like it was truly from the 18-th century. It is pretty dramatic and somewhat sad about a man who everyone calls the Coram Man. Families give him money and their children hoping that he'll take them to the Coram Hospital to have a good life, but the Coram Man almost never brings the children to the hospital besides a select few. After Mish escaped from his father's brutality and saved one of the children he starts a new life at the Coram Hospital. Overall I think it was a great read even though in certain parts I was slightly confused with the writing.

Jude

Jude

By Kate Morgenroth

This book begins with the main character(Jude) having to fight against bad influences that cause him to make bad decisions and even get him thrown into prison. I like this book because it shows no matter how bad your life was before, you can always make it better if you work hard and believe in yourself. Before, Jude was a slacker in school and never worked hard for anything. But throughout his years in prison, he becomes a better, hard-working person.
