Maia of Thebes, 1463 B.C.

Maia of Thebes, 1463 B.C.

By Ann Turner

I read this book because I'm really into heroine stories, especially Egyptian ones. I thought it would be boring, all history and stuff, but it was actually pretty good! Also, believe it or not, Maia is actually a real person! She lives with her crazily weird, mean, and superstitious aunt and uncle, who treat her like a servant. Then she sees her uncle stealing temple grain, which changes her life forever...some of the Egyptian stuff was a bit confusing (they used salt paste as body wash?!) but feisty girls like me will totally like this book! Can't wait to read the other two books in the series!

Robyn Silver: The Midnight Chimes

Robyn Silver: The Midnight Chimes

By Paula Harrison

Robyn is just a normal, clumsy girl...until the night she starts seeing weird creatures everywhere. Unknown forces (!) have caused trees to fall down right on top of her school (that would be cool!) and the class is forced to study in the dark and gloomy Grimdean Mansion. The owners of the the house tell Robyn and two friends that they are Chimes, born at midnight, able to see strange animals and destined to save the world...

Cat Battle!: Nyan Cat vs. Tac Nayn

Cat Battle!: Nyan Cat vs. Tac Nayn

By Logan Ardizzone

it is pretty cool because i love the videos on you tube. they are pretty funny, cute, and the ten hour version is on the annoying side. at least a little. if you can not find this book in stores, ask a librarian at your local library near your home . since it is a little hard to find in barnes and noble.

Kingdom Keepers IV: Power Play

At First Bite (Poison Apple #8)

At First Bite (Poison Apple #8)

By Ruth Ames

I've read, and boy do I wish these were around when I was younger. This story introducers readers to tween vampire, Ashlee Lambert, who moves from her posh NYC apartment out to to L.A. were her famous mother gets her own reality tv as a judge. Ashlee not only has to make new friends and deal with a whole new school, but she's still learning about being a vampire. The cool thing about the vampires in this book is that they shift into bats, don't drink animal blood and can go outside. Though she's the lone vampire in her family (who have no idea she is one), Ashlee has a mentor there to help her. Things get a little out of hand once she's in L.A.

OMG it's Harry and the dirty dog. It's a very cute story. It's a dog who went out of town and became dirty. when Harry came home they thought it wasn't Harry but, it was really Harry! I read this book about ten times and I'm still interested in it.

The League of Unexceptional Children

The League of Unexceptional Children

By Gitty Daneshvari

In this sequel to The League of Unexceptional Children, Jonathan and Shelley are just recovering from their previous mission. Then they are sent to the the United Kingdom to help the Prime Minister. One of their agents, Nina, has gone rogue and stolen a valuable serum, that addles the brain. It makes the person lose IQ points, and makes them extremely confused. It is Jonathan and Shelley's job to retrieve the potion, which they have been told Nina is going to use on government officials in order to sway their vote against a decision that will harm the environment. When Jonathan and Shelley first begin, it seems like Nina is ruthless and do whatever it takes(including kill) to save herself and the serum. But then Jonathan and Shelley begin to investigate...and things don't quite match up. Is Nina the villain? Or is someone else to blame? I really liked the concept of this book. There are a lot of stories out there today about kids who have superpowers, or are very intelligent. This is a book that literally praises the lack of unique qualities. I liked that this book had a mixture of elements of adventure and mystery. I recommend this book to elementary kids. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
