Pet's Revenge (Edgar & Ellen)

Pet's Revenge (Edgar & Ellen)

By Charles Ogden

So I got into this book thinking it would be a mostly childish small read. I had watched the TV show when I was younger and just for the fun of it decided to read this book when I found it in an isolated shelf at Barnes and Nobles. What I was not prepared for, however was a book so engrossing and mysterious that even Sherlock would be scratching his head in wonder. This book which I misunderstood to be a children's book was actually a detailed and layered novel with many twists turns and jokes that one cannot help falling love with it. I believe that every person has something that they love so much, but they are one of the only people in the world that do so, and that is the case with me in this book. The reason this book is a widely unrecognized despite its witty humor and gripping storyline is because it's relatively unknown, there's no advertising about it and it's not sold in many places. Even the author is mystery himself, Charles Ogden isn't even a real person it's a pen name for a group of writers who are unknown. I would highly recommend this book to be read not only because I want to expand its horizons but because everyone deserves to read a book is spectacular as this at least once in their lifetime.

Mrs. Kormel Is Not Normal (My Weird School)

Mrs. Kormel Is Not Normal (My Weird School)

By Dan Gutman

This book is so FUNNY because I like how A.J. always gets reminded to not do weird stuff at school. What's similar to me and A.J. is that we both like Fridays! I also like how creative the students are and call the stop sign the 'magic stop sign'. Overall, Mrs. Kormel is Not Normal is an interesting book that I recommend grade level 1-3 should read.

Secrets of Bearhaven (Bearhaven #1)

Secrets of Bearhaven (Bearhaven #1)

By K. E. Rocha

Bearhaven is where humans and bears can interact with each other; a safe environment for abused and (second-generation type...) bears to live. So the whole plot is very intriguing and very unique! It kind of reminded me about the series the Warriors... And I really liked how the author used personification to make bears talk... well they have these technological transmitters (BEAR-COM) that translate "bear language" to English... It's kind of quite cool! Like safe means Shala, fast means Grauk, and attack means Gal (just a little helpful words to know before exploring the words of Bearhaven)... So starting off with the beginning... Meet Spencer Plain, he's always around with bears, know many random facts about bears, because his parents (bear activists) created Bearhaven after seeing the cruelties that people treated bears... but Spence never knew that... he didn't even knew that they played video games or eat delicious food (well sounds delicious to me!!). After Uncle Mark quickly gets Spence and tells him that his parents are missing (his dad is abducted while his mom quickly fled somewhere unknown)... Spencer soon unravels the secrets of his parent's actual job and becomes very determine to find his parents. Of course the adult bears and Uncle Mark underestimate Spencer... I mean what can this little kid do???? Instead with the help of Kate (this adorable bear), she helps train Spencer into being the man that can save bears and his parents... When he meets his nanny (trying not to spoil it... but don't worry the author doesn't forget about her... because she plays a crucial role)... they make a plan to stop all the bear abusers... because it's about to get real... Because they're going down for real!!! (did you see the pun I did there ;D) So can Spencer defeat the "bad guys," save RoRo and her cubs, and save his parents??? Well if you want to know... read and find out! So I thought that the end would be "everybody gets a happy ending" and it would be cliche... but I was wrong... The ending surprised me... Also how people mistreat bears... is just horrible... I wished the author dug deeper into the problems, solutions, and history about bear abuse... but overall... I thought this was a sweet book... After all who doesn't like to read about talking bears with a crazy spy mission!!! So if you like mischief, adventures, and think kids can make a huge difference (because it is soooooo true... Anybody can make a difference... they just need to have the right mindset)... then this book is perfect for you!! Enjoy! Because it's about to be real!

Something weird is going on! Music class is awesome! The teacher, Mr. Hynde, raps, break-dances, and plays bongo drums on the principal's bald head. But he goes too far when he tries to make A.J. kiss Andrea in the school play. Yuck! Will A.J. survive? ... WOW!!!!

The Borden Murders: Lizzie Borden and the Trial of the Century

The Borden Murders: Lizzie Borden and the Trial of the Century

By Sarah Miller

Imagine what it’s like being on a 10 month trial for murder. This is how Lizzie Borden felt during the many months of being on trial of being suspected of killing her father and stepmother. This book is called the Borden Murders, by Sarah Miller, story about thrills and anticipation. Our protagonist, yet antagonist, Lizzie Borden, is believed to be a murderer of killing Andrew Borden and Abby borden. Our character is facing a long trial. A long, boring, but serious subject trial. At the same time, her sister is facing trial as well because she is another suspect believed to kill the parents. The weapon that Lizzie possibly used was known as the “Hoo-Doo” hatchet. It had made 40 fatal blows to Abby and 41 to Andrew by whoever had been handling the hatchet. Things take a good turn (for a little while) around the end when she is pleaded as innocent. But was it true? Was Lizzie really innocent? Because if she was truly innocent, why would she burn a dress with her parent’s blood on it? The world may just never know. Since they did not have fingerprint scanners back in those days. They wanted to just know the truth. All of this stuff happening in the city of fall river, massachusetts, in the late 1800s to early 1900s. Not something I would call fun to be in. It’s weird yet interesting how back in these days, portugese people were always watched as they were not trusted. She was not the only one suspected, as Emma borden as well, was suspected of killing abby and andrew. I would really recommend this book to anybody who really enjoys history, murder stories, or scary stories or horror stories or people who just enjoy massachusetts and it’s history. It gives you thrills and might learn things in reading in it. From 1-10 I would give it a 9.5 because some stuff I couldn’t understand some stuff it was saying, but other than that it was AWESOME!
