The Old Willis Place: A Ghost Story
By Mary Downing Hahn
Step One: Find a nice place to read. Step Two: Settle in with a blanket. Step Three: Open The Old Willis Place and prepare yourself for a chill and a thrill! Diana and Georgie have lost everything: their home, their parents, their possessions....the only thing they have left is the woods. They can roam the woods if they follow two rules that just appeared in their consciousness one day: NEVER go past the gate and NEVER show yourself to anyone. So besides those rules Diana and Georgie have free range! And boy, do they know how to use it! For the past seventy years they pranked teens (without being seen, of course) and drove the caretakers of the Old Willis Place crazy by messing with the TV during odd hours. But when a new caretaker comes that is unlike the others, Diana questions the rules for once. Even though they are only for her protection, the rules seem so strict! The new caretaker has a daughter, Lissa - and Diana has been lonely for SUCH a long time! But when Diana gets to close to Lissa, she starts to realize just how much she has lost and the danger she might be in. This is a 5/5 book, another of Mary Downing Hahn's wondrous pieces of literature. This goes on my top 3 horror books list! A must-read! --BKS
The Marvels
By Brian Selznick
This book was so breathtaking! The illustrations were beautiful, and the story was well-written. I think this author really knows what he is doing; he's created THREE best-selling novels loaded with fascinating drawings and impressive stories. But THIS book is about a boy named Billy Marvel who is rescued and sent to England after a tragic shipwreck. He then discovers the Royal Theater, where he finds he truly belongs. One day, he finds a baby boy on his doorstep, and takes him in as one of his own. This boy adapts to the theater, has a son, and the story continues. The story then skips ahead to 1990. A new boy named Joseph is in search for his uncle after running away from his strict school with his friend, Blink. A mysterious friend, Frankie, helps Joseph find his uncle, but his uncle refuses to take him in. Eventually, he agrees, but not for long. Read to find out what happens next! This book is SO good, so read it!
Children of Refuge (Children of Exile)
By Margaret Peterson Haddix
This is a really good book that follows the first book well. The only thing I wish is that there would be another book in this series. This is a great book.
Where Is Stonehenge?
By True Kelley
This book is about how Stonehenge was built and its interesting facts with it. It also talked about multiple people and how Stonehenge became what it is today. I related to this book by when I would help build with my dad . I gave it a 3/5 stars because it did get confusing when they would talk about who built it ;then the next part would be about who owns it.
Eight Keys. Suzanne LaFleur
By Suzanne LaFleur
I decided to read this because the cover was very, very, eye catching. I know you are not supposed to judge a book by its cover but this cover was amazing!
The Brooklyn Nine
By Alan M. Gratz
9 members of a family based out of Brooklyn that love everything about baseball. If you like to read a story about baseball then this book will be at your interest level. It has flashbacks that relive what early baseball was like during the Civil War. The reason I gave it 4 stars was because I like baseball and the Civil War and was a book I had a hard time putting down.

Dog Tags #4: Divided We Fall
By C. Alexander London
This book is about war and how a soldier and a dog are super great and the best partners ever. The dog and the soldier go a cross the world having wars but when they are together they can not be stopped. I made a connection with this book because my older brother read this and recommended it to me. If you like dogs you will definitely love this book because a dog is a hero. I gave this book a five star because it has so much good and loving moments you might even cry about it.
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (Step-up adventures)
By Judith Conaway
I gave this book a 4 star rating because it caught my attention. This book is about the story of three accidental visitors to an underwater world hosted by the mysterious Captain Nemo. From their arrival on board the Nautilus, the scholarly Professor Aronnax, loyal Conseil, and adventurous Ned Land are torn between exploring the new wonders of their surroundings and finding a way to escape. They originally went to Nautilus to find out what species of undiscovered whale has been damaging world shipping. However, far from encountering a whale that has wrecked world shipping, they soon find themselves on the iron plating of a new kind of vessel, a submarine. Read this book to find out more. I made a connection with this book because I saw the front cover had the tentacles and the tentacles were wrapped around the ship and the ship looked like it was sinking.
Cam Jansen: The Mystery of the Television Dog #4
By David A. Adler
Cam Jansen went to a book signing from a famous dog. The famous dog had white fur and black spots. Someone switched him out with a fake all white dog that had shoe polish rubbed on the exact same spots. Cam follows this strand looking man with a dog and he is cutting up words from a magazine and gluing them down on a sheet of paper. The guy is eventually caught and the real famous dog is back with its owner. I gave this book a four star rating because although it is a very good book and can get a little boring at times. I could relate to this book because once my dog went missing and we looked at dogs everywhere outside that looked like him.
