Book Review: Mr Stink by David Walliams This book is really stinky, it would smell so much that you would have to put it in the bin, and then bury the bin and get it thrown off the edge of the earth! If you like stinks then Mr. Stink, by David Walliams is the book for you. Mr Stink and Chloe have a great friendship but Chloe has some problems at, home and her mum and dad don't get along with each other. Mr Stink lives on the bench by the side of the road. And Chloe's parents don't know Chloe's talking to Mr Stink! What's going to happen? Chloe invites her friend to have a play date in her shed! How fun will it be? Mr Stink gets covered in mud! GROSS! This book I recommend to boys and girls, and if you like stinky people then that too. There is also a movie. Mr Stink is a great funny book. I hope you enjoy reading Mr. Stink! (Year 5, NZ)
The Emerald Atlas (Books of Beginning)
By John Stephens
So I rated this book 3.5 stars. Don't get me wrong, this is a REALLY good book but I USED to be in LOVE with fantasy novels. Now I'm kind of a little older and I've been reading less Middle Reader Fantasy (this is the first fantasy novel that I've read in like, a year), and more Young Adult novels. I read this book like a month ago, but I decided not to read the whole series (which I have never done before, I always finish a book series) because I'm kind of growing out of the Fantasy genre. I kind of got bored with the characters, only because the somewhat stereotypical "three abandoned orphans" plot is overused a lot. I really liked how Gabriel and the Empress were described. The Empress was really ruthless, and it definitely showed throughout the book. Gabriel wasn't your typical strong hero that comes out of nowhere, his personality and emotions were really raw a well-plotted. This book kind of reminded me of the Narnia series because it was so full of adventure and magic. The pacing of the book was absolutely on point, which I loved. Anyway, I thought this book was a little bit over average, I know that people younger than me would enjoy it. There's a lot of really awesome elements like dwarves, a mysterious book, giants, and other mythical creatures. I would recommend this to the 9-11 year old range.
Mummies in the Morning (Magic Tree House)
By Mary Pope Osborne
Jack and Annie decided to come back the morning to see if it was still there (the tree house) they stared up at the tree house and said "it looks empty" they went up in the tree house and all of the books where still there but while they where going up they heard a voice could it be " M*?they where looking threw the like trying to figure out what play they wanted to go to today.they picked the mummie times! They went there and Annie didn't listen to Jack when he said that they have to wait in the tree house to see if it's ok to go down.but they still went down and they went into the place and there was a tomb raider, scary mummies.but all at the end they home to there mom making pb and j sandwiches.I recommend this to 8 to 12 year old I rate this 4/5 😍
The Year of the Rat (A Pacy Lin Novel)
By Grace Lin
I loved this book even more than the Year of the dog! What I liked about " The year of the Rat" so much was the stories that Grace's Mom and Dad told her, and I also liked reading about the food in the book. I would totally try some of that. Here are some of the foods mentioned in the book: Red- Brown Roasted Duck, Light Pink dumplings, golden pan-fried fish, and shrimp, to name a few. It made my mouth water and stomach growl!
Class President (Marvin Redpost (Prebound))
By Louis Sachar
This is a nice book that keeps the reader focused on the book and does not get put down once it gets picked up. In this book, everyone wore torn clothes and it did seem like a good idea until they got big news..the president- of the U.S.A. was coming for a visit. Solving a math problem, answering questions, laughing; it was a good chance to get one-on-one with the president. Many problems arise and then solve. At the end readers learn that mistakes can happen, but you must forgive them and move on. Overall, this was a good book that I loved and am sure everyone who reads it will like it, too.
