Siege and Storm (The Grisha Trilogy)

Siege and Storm (The Grisha Trilogy)

By Leigh Bardugo

Alina is back in the riveting second installment of the Grisha Trilogy! More powerful than ever, she must evade the Darkling if she wants to stay free. The Darkling is a relentless hunter and will stop at nothing to find her. With the power of the Sun Summoner, he could rule the world. With the Sun Summoner on the loose, she could ruin his. Will she always run from The Darkling, or will she stand and fight? With the weight of the world resting on her shoulders, Alina must find her strength, gather her power, and face the storm. See the full extent of Bardugo's world-building mastery, watch her characters grow and develop. Complex and fascinating, Seige and Storm is a book worth your time! In this book, you'll meet a new cast of characters (Sturmhond rules!), explore the Grishverse, and see new sides to every character. Be sure to have the next book, Ruin And Rising close by- you won't want to put the series down! I know I couldn't- It only lasted me a day! I'd recommend it for 6th grade and up, I'm in Highschool and still enjoyed it to the full! I look forward to starting Bardugo's other series Six of Crows, soon!

Dead Voices

Dead Voices

By Katherine Arden

Ever since Ollie, Coco, and Brian managed to outwit the Smiling Man in his haunted corn maze, the friends have hoped that would be the last they would see of him. But when Ollie and her friends go to a lodge near the Mount Hemlock Ski Resort, they find out that it is haunted by the ghosts of Mistress Hemlock and a ghost named Gretel. Their problems get worse when they are trapped in a snowstorm in the lodge. Could it get any worse? Unfortunately, it does. But then Ollie, Coco, and Bryan find out that the Smiling Man is in the lodge with them, and this time, he's determined to trap Ollie and her friends in a mirror forever. I liked this book because it contained a lot of suspense, and it is sort of creepy.

Beverly Cleary's book is fascinating. The book is about a mouse named Ralph who keeps accidently making trouble for his family.

Thea Stilton #19: Thea Stilton and the Chocolate Sabotage

By Thea Stilton

Pretty illustrations, invigorating writing, enigmatic fonts...need I say any more? The 19th installment of this beautiful series follows the Thea Sisters in Mexico as they visit their friends' chocolate factory! All seems well until someone begins sabotaging the factory's batter and confections. Could it be their friends' biggest rival, or someone closer to their heart?

Above World

By Jenn Reese

Aluna has lived her entire life under the sea. She is a Coral Kampii - a splinter of humans that came to live in the sea generations ago to escape the horrors and dangers of the above world. She is only a day away from getting her tail and being confined to the water forever when she sees her friend floating dead in the water. Her breathing shell - the shells attached to their throats that allow them to breathe under water - had broken, causing her to drown. When she reports it to the Elders, she is surprised at their obstinance: ‘no one will venture out to the Above World’, they say, ‘no one will go looking for HydroTek, the tech company that made the necklaces’, ‘these deaths were just accidents’. Aluna knows the survival of her fellow Kampii and the city are in danger so she rejects her tail and escapes above in a last effort to save her people (and escape the fate that they’ve laid out for her - who wants to stay at home safe all day so she can rear children? She wants to be a hunter!) But can Aluna and her tech-savvy best friend Hoku survive in a world full of dangerous no-longer-humans, modified to live in their extreme environments as a cause of overcrowding and save their city too? This is a dystopian novel set in a world so far in the future where overpopulation has led humans to adapt to live in harsher environments - growing tails, wings, horse hooves, etc. It’s a very engaging story and is very suspenseful, kind of scary, but very exciting. It teaches to think beyond the set boundaries and to think before you act. Loyalty and friendship were very evident themes and the technology was like a kind of magic. I think this is a great read that most kids should enjoy.

Captain Underpants and the Big, Bad Battle of the Bionic Booger Boy, Part 1: The Night of the Nasty Nostril Nuggets (Captain Underpants #6)

Captain Underpants and the Big, Bad Battle of the Bionic Booger Boy, Part 1: The Night of the Nasty Nostril Nuggets (Captain Underpants #6)

By Dav Pilkey

This book was fantastic but out of 5 stars I will choose 4. I really loved George’s and Harold’s invention. I thought it was funny how Bionic Booger Boy doesn’t like tissues but he likes water. I also loved how creative George and Harold are when they make comic books. It is interesting how even though Melvin hates George and Harold they just mind their own business. I also loved how they always stick together when it comes to a problem. When I saw this book there was a show on it so I watched it and it was amazing just like the book. I really recommend you to read the book if you like comedy books.

Captain Underpants and the Preposterous Plight of the Purple Potty People (Captain Underpants #8)

By Dav Pilkey

Dav Pilkey's eighth epic novel promises evil, horror, and "laffs," and delivers all three. In this unusual episode, George and Harold take a wrong turn somewhere and wind up in a surrealistic alternate reality where everything is the opposite of what they are used to. As they try to adjust to a place where teachers are nice and cafeteria food is good, our heroes encounter evil versions of themselves. Unless our duo can stop them, these evil twins plan to destroy their hometown. Thats when Great granny girdle and Boxer boy come to save the twins and Captain underpants from their doom! The evil version of George and Harold plus Captain blunderpants are defeated and the world is safe again.. Now, what could possibly go wrong?...
