Skulduggery Pleasant Series (3 Book Series)

Skulduggery Pleasant Series (3 Book Series)

By Derek Landy

This book was about a girl named Stephanie who met a mysterious person called Skulduggery Pleasant who was a friend of her dead uncle and Skulduggery brought her into a world she never knew existed. Skulduggery Pleasant is my favorite character because he has a good sense of humor and also uses cool magic. My favorite parts of the book was when they were using magic to battle evil magicians. I would recommend this book to others who enjoy fantasy and fiction stories and I would rate it 9/10.

The Wishing World

The Wishing World

By Todd Fahnestock

I have loved this book so far and am anxious to read more! In the first few chapters, Lorelei explains her history. First, her dad was an astronomer and always saw one comet every night. When she and her family go camping, a storm closes in. Her little brother, dad, and mom all disappear! Outside of the tent, Lorelei sees black tentacles. A year later, she believes that she might have a clue to the disappearance. she goes to get it and finds nothing, but writes in the air, I want my parents back. Suddenly, she sees a gryphon. The gryphon tells Lorelei that she summoned him and is fighting the monster that, apparently, took her parents. Lorelei summons a portal and sends the gryphon home, but decides to jump in herself. That is all I have gotten to so far but I am anxious to read more.

Seaborne #1: The Lost Prince

Seaborne #1: The Lost Prince

By Matt Myklusch

The Lost Prince started off really great. It caught my attention, I felt some sympathy for Dean, our main character, and I wanted to see what would happen next, truly I did. But the performance of the story as a whole . . . it slacked off. It didn't meet my expectations. First off, this book is in no manner realistic. I LOVE fantasy, I won't deny that. But this book didn't have much essence. It was rather cheesy, actually. Next, Dean has a love interest in this book. That's fine. If the love is written off well. But it wasn't. I didn't feel like Dean really loved Waverly . . . more like he saw her as a beautiful young lady with sparkly eyes. In my opinion, the book was better off without the romance. And NONE of ANY of the battle scenes in this book were picturesque. The author, Matt, seemed to be just telling what happened in the battle. Dean never tires from the fight, never gets actually injured while fighting a man TWICE his size. SO UNREALISTIC. The battle was bland. That's all there is to it. No cliffhangers at the end of chapters doesn't really encourage me to read more. This is a good book for 9 year olds who don't mind the lack of realism, but anyone older would most likely not find the book satisfying.
