Survivors: The Gathering Darkness #6: The Final Battle
By Erin Hunter
This last book in the latest series of Survivors is a must-read for dog lovers. Storm is in a lot of trouble. A bad dog named Breeze is still free, while Storm is in captivity. Soon, her suspicions prove to be correct when Breeze takes the pups of the leader of the pack away. Horrified, the rest of the dogs let Storm out to help them in the search for the missing pups. Can Storm prove her loyalty to her Pack by finding the murderer Breeze and saving the pups from her clutches? Or will she fail in her quest to rescue the pups?
Survivors: The Gathering Darkness #4: Red Moon Rising
By Erin Hunter
I thought this book was a step up from book 3, which didn't really advance the main plot (in my opinion). It was a great read, and finally advanced the main plot more. However, I do have a few problems with it. At the end, I feel Lucky made a choice that seemed out of character and wrong, and I feel that it kinda contradicts with who he was in the original series. With The Wild Pack, I rooted for them in the original series, but this book made me think Storm should have left the pack a long time ago.
Survivors: The Gathering Darkness #2: Dead of Night
By Erin Hunter
A hooking, terrific story, creatively woven and awesomely fun! This will amaze you greatly...bunker up and read! Once again, Storm is trying to figure out who the bad dog in her pack is...the dog who was responsible for all the chaos and injury happening. One of her friends is dead, and she wants to get revenge for him, as much as any dog. But her packmates are turning in the wrong direction, and soon, everyone thinks they have gotten the culprit...a mistaken one. This causes a terrible war, leading to one dog going against her pack’s wishes...Storm. As the relationship between Storm and her foster father, Lucky, grows more strained day by day, she knows she has to act. But time is ticking, and the bad dog is still out there. Can she do this? Or will she fail?
Survivors: The Gathering Darkness #3: Into the Shadows

Survivors: Into the Shadows is packed with action, love, and the importance of loyalty, a bracing read that people will surely enjoy. With unexpected twists in the winding plot, and a great, heroic ending, this story will thrill fans of the series, both old and new. I would definitely recommend this to everyone I’ve ever met, because I know they’ll love it!

Moving Target
By Christina Diaz Gonzalez
Before I say anything else about this book, I just want to say it was a decent read. Honestly, I've read worse books, but I definitely had a lot of problems with this one. First of all, I felt that the description was misleading. Where are the thrilling, heart-in-your-throat chases and adventure and fate and great evil I was promised? I didn't even feel compelled to root for the main characters. The book itself felt very forced, passive, and bland. The concept is great but the execution fell flat. I didn't get ANY sense of the peril they were in, and there were hardly ANY cliffhangers that might have helped keep me at least a tiny bit intrigued. The only part of Moving Target that I enjoyed was the last chapter, which made me wonder what would happen to poor Cassie and Asher, but that was about it. Hopefully the second book will be a lot better in comparison to this one. Overall I recommend this to anyone, as it is very mild on violence and there is no bad language.
Mark of the Thief (Mark of the Thief #1)
By Jennifer A. Nielsen
When this book started, immediately I was brought back to one of my favorite book series: Gods and Warriors. (I almost thought I had accidentally picked up the Gods and Warriors book again.) But after the first chapter I realized that this was a whole different story. Nic finds the Bulla, which is filled with the overpowering magic bestowed by one of the gods–the question is: which god or goddess? Nic's wildest dreams comes true–along with some of his worst nightmares too. Another user of magic searches tirelessly for him and his bulla, seeking to harness the magic it contains. Who really are Nic's allies and enemies? Or is there really no difference between them? In this well-paced fantasy story, Nic is pitted against the beasts, magic itself, griffins, family, and the desires of his own heart. I can't wait to get my hands on the sequel!
The Scourge
By Jennifer A. Nielsen
The definition of scourge: [skurj] “a cause of affliction or calamity.” All Ani Mells wanted was a perfectly, ripe vinefruit to eat- which requires climbing skill…. And so she had set off to climb the vines, but instead she had overheard a conversation between two wardens… Let me start off with some background history… There are the River People also known as “grubs”and the opulent citizens or townsfolk also known as “pinchworms.” They have a mutual dispute… because Governor Felling kept on pushing the River People farther away where food is not as abundant compared to Marisbane- also the main reason why is because “history shows that the River People was the pivotal point of contracting the Scourge” (which could leadt o the deterioration of many villages). However, the Governor released new information that the Scourge is back… and in order to protect those who did not have the Scourge, the victims would be tested for this disease, and if they tested positive, then they would be sent to the Colony until they lived their short life. The Colony is a former prison cell where they quarantine all citizens who contracted the Scourge. So going back to the summary… Ani is starving and she found her ambrosia, the vinefruit… and after she climbed up the vine, she did obtain her goal (to eat food), however she gets caught by the Warden by a bird- yes, a mother bird that’s surprisingly abysmal. On the way, the Wardens are stopped by Weevil, Ani’s best friend (who is a decent pickpocketer) and encourages the Wardens to bring him along suggesting that he’s contracted the Scourge. Ani is outrageously mad that Weevil is stuck in this mess, but Weevil is happy to barge in because at least he can try to save his best friend. However when they get stuck in a prison cell, Weevil uses his adroit skills to unlock them… Which leads them to their ultimate prison escape… by then Weevil and Ani had split while Ani stopped to think about whether to help a girl that looked a couple of years older than her… However her wishful thinking got her nowhere because the Wardens had captured both, Ani and Della. Inside the cell they are being placed in, there’s a huge quarrel between them… until the testing day… On that day, both girls were tested positive for the Scourge where they had to drink a liquid… which means they were both shipped to the Colony. On their way there… they get stopped by Weevil again which meant he was able to go to the Colony with them… So as they reached the Colony, everybody was given medicine which could help alleviate the pain… However Della’s medicine was lost after Ani pushed her and Della stole Ani’s medicine…. It looks like they’re troublesome girls- but they do have hearts like gold and they are very compassionate, potent, and brave- especially Ani. The only way to get inside the infirmary (which is the place where people go inside, but never comes back) is if one is broken, and Ani believes she’ll never be broken… However on her first day Ani gets in trouble for pushing off Della… Where the Wardens got to “break their friendship” which led them to escape their slashings… (I’m just glad that they are the truest of friends… because one should know that if two people are truly best friends… a dispute will only make them stronger together, not annihilate their friendship). So a couple of days later, they made “cave friends” where they found Della’s lover...and before that… Ani sneaks inside the Warden’s room to explore why they never contracted the Scourge even though they were surrounded by them… but they found no medicine… which was very bizarre… which led to another important discovery… (gasp)... I profusely apologize for stopping this summary because SPOILER ALERT…. And I covered the necessities… I know the beginning might start a little slow- but don’t dismiss it right away, because trust me… it get’s amazing… (Also one huge tip, don’t let the governor fool you!) This story shows courage and pure perseverance… This story also entails a strong friendship, which I completely adored about this book… I highly recommend… A sweet book encompassing determination and strong bonds with a dystopian scene… Please read this amazing book.... Because “We are the Scourge.”
