A hilarious Southern debut with the kind of characters you meet once in a lifetime

Rising sixth grader Miss Moses LoBeau lives in the small town of Tupelo Landing, NC, where everyone's business is fair game and no secret is sacred. She washed ashore in a hurricane eleven years ago, and she's been making waves ever since. Although Mo hopes someday to find her "upstream mother," she's found a home with the Colonel--a café owner with a forgotten past of his own--and Miss Lana, the fabulous café hostess. She will protect those she loves with every bit of her strong will and tough attitude. So when a lawman comes to town asking about a murder, Mo and her best friend, Dale Earnhardt Johnson III, set out to uncover the truth in hopes of saving the only family Mo has ever known.

Full of wisdom, humor, and grit, this timeless yarn will melt the heart of even the sternest Yankee.

I really loved this so much that I didn't want the book to end! Mo is very cool. She is eleven and runs a cafe, knows martial arts and is a detective. While she searches for her mom, she starts to understand taht all she needs is love to have a family.

Mo is a force of nature, with luck to match. There were so many conflicts in this book that you could never get bored reading it (or re-reading). A tale about self-discovery that tilts perspective.

:) I couldn't have described it better, bookworm890!

This is an interesting book. The characters are cooky, and I can't wait to read more. I also like the little town it is set in.

I really loved this book and I'd like to read it again. It was so interesting and mysterious, yet also really hilarious. I loved it.

this book had a really suspenseful mystery in it. it was a really good book. mo has a strong determination to do what she thinks is right, and she is funny when she tries to solve the mystery herself. the part about colonel being a lawyer is really funny too. i recommend this book to anyone who likes reading a good mystery.
