Have you ever had to choose between two different boys? Well in the book The Selection by Kiera Cass this is exactly what 16 year old America Singer (protagonist) has to do. When America is chosen to compete with other girls in the Selection for the hand of the Prince, she has to decide whether or not to stay with her boyfriend or go to the palace. When she gets there she meets a girl named Celeste (antagonist) who will do anything to win even sabotage other people (first conflict). When girls are starting to go home, her ex boyfriend gets a new job which makes her feelings for the Prince and her ex boyfriend go wild (second conflict). But when the Prince asks her on a real date she has to decide who she chooses. Who will America choose, read the book to find out. This book takes place in the kingdom of Illea. I would recommend this book to girls 7th grade through high school. Warning- this book has mature content and may be unsuitable for children under seventh grade.

I'm in 6th and i read that

its called illea not lllea sorry things like that bother me;)

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been looking for a book like this FOREVER. It's got the romance involved and, yes, the plot is a bit cheesy, but as the great author Kiera Cass is, she put in her own little magic in it. It has the humor some romantic books can't capture, and the author does a good job in developing the characters in a way that makes you unsure about yourself. You don't exactly know which character you're rooting for because Kiera Cass is just so good at bringing the best qualities of people into the light. The characters still have their own flaws making everything all the more complicated for you to choose, yet beautiful. It might sound strange, but it just makes you smile and love the book more (if that's even possible). The imaginary world in The Selection just makes you wish you could live in this world...or better yet, be America Singer, the main character, and embark on the many adventures this brave girl must embrace.

A great futuristic romance between a girl of a low caste and the prince of a large Kingdom! You will be confused along with America and you will scream at her for doing something wrong! I lived completely in the book and this is fantastic!

"I'm choosing me." (America Singer) The Selection is your typically dystopian book in which there's 90% less action and 100% more romance. A strong, independent woman must decide between her two loves of her life, and can't seem to make up her mind as she meets with them both. Sound familiar? America herself isn't a very relatable character; while she has many flaws, which is good, she's /insanely/ stubborn and keeps making the same mistakes. She hates the prince, loves him, and hates him again over the spawn of around a few months. The book itself was written very well, in a way I couldn't put it down. It wasn't as good as others make it out to be, however.

I loved this book because it was a short twist on the Hunger games but without all of the blood and the gore. I loved that the story showed that America had to do something she didn't want to do but it made her mother and sister happy. The plot line for The Selection is a teenage girl in the country of illea is in love with a family friend that are in a higher caste, (a caste is a rating of your life the 1's are royalty and the 8's are the poorest caste with no home.) America Singer is a 7 and is in the art industry when the King and Queen think their son Prince Maxton should have a selection America's mom said she should apply. America thought what could the harm be she wouldn't get picked for sure. What will happen to America Singer? To find out you have to read the book. Hope you enjoy reading.

This is an amazing book!

The book is about a young man named Maxon trying to find a wife through the selection process ,all the girls from the city can be entered into a completion where a shortlist of girls are invited to the palace in hope of being chose. You read the book through America singers point of view where you see her dilemma between prince Maxon or Aspen the boy she has known all of her life.

I really enjoy reading this book, because it’s about love, which the one type of the story that I like. After reading this book, I kind of think that feelings are not easy to change, but after America becomes friend with Maxon, she realized that she actually is starting to forget about Aspen and as the time goes by, the more she and Maxon are together, the more she start thinking of Maxon, many little make a mickle, which is also when she realized that she felt in love with Maxon. This book makes me smile a lot while reading it, it has a lot of funny moment and parts, but at the last part, I was kind of disappointed and don’t know which guy should I stand for. At last, Aspen even went for her, but it’s too late, because America thinks he gave up long time ago. This is a really mysterious love story, it makes me think a lot, which I like it. I think I’m going to read the next one, The Elite, it’s going to be good, because I think it is going to be continuing their love story, from this story, The Selection.
