A funny, moving, and true story of an ordinary boy with an extraordinary face that's perfect for fans of Wonder—now available in the U.S.

When Robert Hoge was born, he had a tumor the size of a tennis ball in the middle of his face and short, twisted legs. Surgeons removed the tumor and made him a new nose from one of his toes.  Amazingly, he survived—with a face that would never be the same.

Strangers stared at him. Kids called him names, and adults could be cruel, too. Everybody seemed to agree that he was “ugly.” But Robert refused to let his face define him. He played pranks, got into trouble, had adventures with his big family, and finally found a sport that was perfect for him to play. And Robert came face to face with the biggest decision of his life, he followed his heart.

This poignant memoir about overcoming bullying and thriving with disabilities shows that what makes us “ugly” also makes us who we are. It features a reflective foil cover and black-and-white illustrations throughout.

The book "Ugly" is about a boy called Robert that was born disabled. Robert has brothers and sisters too, but Robert was the special boy in his family, he was a nice and good person. I think that people should get the novel Ugly because it's a good story and it makes me feel happy and sometimes sad.

The book "Ugly" is about a man named Robert who was born with a tumor in the middle of his face. What I liked about the book is he sends the best message, it doesn't matter what people think. he survived a surgery to fix himself up. Now he's a grown man who has a wife and two amazing daughters.

This novel is about a boy named Robert Hoge that was born deformed . He had many problems in his life. I recommend you read this book because it teaches a lesson. Just because you look different does not mean you get treated differently. You can also learn about this person's life.

Ugly is one of the most amazing books I've ever read. If I had to choose 1/10 it would be a 10/10 what I like about Ugly is that Robert Hoge isn't afraid to call himself ugly. This book is sad Im going to warn you but its definitely worth it.

I just read on of the best books ever!! its called Ugly. I think its so good because it helps you see things from a different prospective. Its about a boy named rob who has a facial deformity and has no legs. They were amputated at a young age. The book is just his life story. Its the story of how he came to accept the way his face looks and to know that thats who he is. I think everyone should red this book its a 10 out of 10.
