A hilarious, action-packed New York Times bestselling series launches with a story-within-a-story, from the author of the Half Upon a Time trilogy.

Life is boring when you live in the real world, instead of starring in your own book series. Owen knows that better than anyone, what with the real world’s homework and chores.

But everything changes the day Owen sees the impossible happen—his classmate Bethany climb out of a book in the library. It turns out Bethany’s half-fictional and has been searching every book she can find for her missing father, a fictional character.

Bethany can’t let anyone else learn her secret, so Owen makes her a deal: All she has to do is take him into a book in Owen’s favorite Kiel Gnomenfoot series, and he’ll never say a word. Besides, visiting the book might help Bethany find her father…

…Or it might just destroy the Kiel Gnomenfoot series, reveal Bethany’s secret to the entire world, and force Owen to live out Kiel Gnomenfoot’s final (very final) adventure.

Oliver's life changes when he sees Bethany jump out of a book, and he can't just leave this opportunity to rest. He asks Bethany to take him into his favorite book. BIG MISTAKE, he ends the book and destroys the story. They get separated and discover the war going on. Oliver takes the place of his favorite hero and Bethany with the help of a friend tries to stop a person from ending the writers. This brings Bethany and Oliver closer together but, Bethany no closer to finding her father her main goal. Overall it was an okay book.

This book was cool. The son of a bookstore owner discovers a girl in his class who can travel into books. He uses her to change his favorite book's ending, and everything spirals out of control.

There is one question that Owen asks himself, "Was there anything in the world that could possibly be more boring than fraction?" In all, Owen's life is pretty bland. He likes to read, mainly because his mom is a librarian and he also helps out after school. Then a girl from his class is eating chocolate. Don't think that eating chocolate is weird. Well how about the fact that the chocolate came from inside the book! She finds out that he knows her secret and intends to give him an everlasting gobstopper from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in hopes that he would just leave her alone. But he has other plans for Bethany. To take him into one of the books. But when she does take him into one of the books, something happens, the fictional characters come out of the book and are really mad. They just found out that all of their lives have not been their lives, but the lives that their author created for them.

It was amazing. A total mystery. I thought it was cool how Bethany and Owen kept jumping into books and books and books. You should read it.

this book is amazing, its a total mystery. where bethany and owen jump book into book into book. so cool!!

Bethany takes Owen on the adventure of a lifetime to travel through books of the different variety. Bethany can travel through these books because her father is a fictional character in a book while her mother exists in reality. She can transfer between the two worlds for a bit more excitement in her life. At school, she was found by Owen to be constantly looking for her father, who could be in any book. However, it is dangerous to interact with main characters in the novel because you could be known in the book and that could ruin the story... which is what Owen had done. Owen journies into the final book of the Kiel Gnomenfoot series and joins in on his final adventure. This book has given me so much curiosity about reading becuase what if we are living in a book right now? You never know. (I love how at the end of the book the author's name and identity is completely unknown.. it gives a good sense of myserty to the book... the book also claims that the picture of the author could be an actor)

When Owen finds out that his friend Bethany is a half-fictional character who is looking for her dad, the two make a deal that goes wonky, resulting in the destruction of Owen's favorite series and causing 1. Bethany's secret to be unleash to the world and 2. Owen to live his favorite character's last adventure.

ok so i love reading and, i love mysteries so this book is like everything im so happy they made a book that expresses my awsomeness.

I love this book.I would love to live in a book
