I highly recommend this book. This book is about a little boy and a dog. The little boy’s name was Little Willy. The dog’s name is Searchlight. His grandpa is sick and he finds out that his grandpa hasn’t been paying the rent for their house soon. He saw this advertisement: Pay $50 to enter. And if you win you get $500! This is a dogsled competition. He pays $50 and enters with Searchlight. Will they win? Read to find out! I rate this book 100 out of 100 stars.

SPOILER: My 4th grade son was excited to read this book about sled dogs. He read the first half this morning, and thank God I had the intuition to read ahead to the end. The build up to the last few pages is chock full of positive emotions, which are ripped away from the reader by a few simple sentences of wholly gratuitous violent death. The reader is left shocked - an emotion made all the more painful by the heart-wrenching illustration on the next page - and unrelieved by any sense of fulfillment or resolve at the end. I was personally crushed by this book and am greatly relieved I'll be able to prevent my son feeling the same.

I loved this book so much it was very amazing to read.

I liked how author told the tale of a boy participating along with his trusted companion, Stone Fox in a dog-sledding race. The ending was most truly heartbreaking.

Good book but I cried at the end

The dog with the red fur in this picture dies because he was running too fast. Sorry for the spoiler but this was a really good and sad book.
