The brave and unusual Serafina lives in the magnificent Biltmore Estate in the opulence of the Gilded Age and the rugged beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. But she's caught between two worlds: she's too wild for Biltmore's beautifully dressed ladies and formal customs, and too human to fully join her forest kin.

Filled with history, mystery, and magic for both adults and young readers (8+), this Disney-Hyperion thriller debuted as a #1 New York Times Best Seller, earned the prestigious "Starred Review" from Kirkus Reviews, and is now being taught in over a thousand classrooms nationwide. Be sure to watch the exciting book trailer in the media section below.

Late one night while prowling through the forest, Serafina encounters a strange and terrifying figure, and then she's attacked by the vicious wolfhounds under his control. Even worse, she's convinced that the stranger is not alone, that he has sent his accomplice into Biltmore in disguise.

A mysterious series of attacks test Serafina's role as Biltmore's protector, culminating in a tragedy that tears Serafina's best friend, Braeden Vanderbilt, from her side. Heartbroken, she flees.

Deep in the forest, she comes face-to-face with the evil infecting Biltmore--and discovers its reach is far greater than she'd ever imagined. All the humans and animals of the Blue Ridge Mountains are in terrible danger. For Serafina to defeat this new evil before it engulfs her beloved home, she must search deep inside herself and embrace the destiny that has always awaited her.

Do you know what a catamount is? It's a cougar or mountain lion! Serafina, a girl living in 1899, was the daughter of a shap_shifter. At times, her mother would be a mountain lion, the next, she would be a human. But Serafina doesn't have this ability. No matter how hard she tries, she can't do it! Up until a few months ago, she didn't even know her mother. Ever since she was little, Serafina has been raised in Biltmore, a giant estate near the mountains of North Carolina. Over time, she has almost become like its guardian. But this time, she'll have to fight hard to defeat her enemy. One night, she encounters a strange man with magical powers. He seems to be able to control animals. Even more terrifying, he has sent his spy so that he can invade Biltmore! But who is it? How can she defeat the man? I liked this book because it had a lot of details about life in 1899.

This is the second book of the Serafina series. Instead of the Black Cloak, Serafina goes on to a fierce battle between the twisted staff that can control animals to the owners wish. Read book to find out.

I recommend this book for the supernatural book lovers. This book is a great combo of mystery, destiny, and true meaning. The back story and the history of the places in this book are amazing. This book would be great for people who want to sit back and escape to the wonderful world that Robert Beatty has created.

I really like this book. It is about a girl who is a catamount. A catamount is someone who is half girl and half animal. She uses her gift to defeat a powerful source that could damage the world if she doesn't defeat it.

I agree they are great books I love them want to read again

These are great books. I was always excited to read what came next. I little scary for some people but I thought it was great.

Serafina and the Twisted Staff is a spooky yet thrilling tale that gives you the chills! the part I liked most was when Serafina met Waysa at the waterfall. She got to do so many amazing things, it seemed unreal. First, when she meets Waysa, she gets pushed down a waterfall. It seems really scary, but so so much fun at the same time! I liked the part when she learned to swim, too. Swimming is so much fun for me, and reading about her learning how to was very enjoyable. Later, after she eats freshly cooked grouse, or as called by Waysa, "drummer," when she plays with her half brothers and sisters, I wondered what it would be like to do that. This book was a pleasure to read, even though some parts were not my favorite! Even though this book is fiction, it makes you want and not want to believe it.

i loved the first book and the author is amazing, I'm sure this book will be just as great! : )

So far it is AMAZING
