The family has just moved to an old farmhouse in a new town, where the only good thing seems to be Miri's ten-sided attic bedroom. The magic half is fantastic. When I read it, it was fantastic. It was about a person meeting her twin from another place. I like this book.
I just reread this after a year or so, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I did when I was younger. It definitely fills a niche for younger readers, but the story is not as light as the cover suggests. The book was spine-tingling, yet adventurous. In the beginning of the book the main character, Miri, moves to the countryside with her older brothers, Robbie and Ray who are twins, and her younger sisters Nell and Nora, who are also twins. Miri is left in the middle with no attention from most of her family. One afternoon, Miri finds a broken piece of glass from an eyeglass, taped to her bedroom wall. Miri looks into the glass and finds herself transported to 1935, but Miri is in the same bedroom, the same house, with four different people living in the house: Flo, Horst, Sissy, and Molly. Horst and Sissy are Flo's teenage children, and Molly's parents abandoned her so she is living with her Aunt Flo. Molly is treated horribly by her aunt and cousins, and she is the only one that meets Miri. Miri and Molly instantly become best friends, and Miri plans to take Molly home with her to the future. There's only one problem, they don't know how to get back to Miri's home in the future. I read this book in the middle of a "mourning period" because I just finished reading the Clockwork series by Cassandra Clare. I really enjoyed reading about the relationship between Miri and Molly. I liked how the author included two sets of twins, instead of four brothers and sisters. This book was a bit of a "ghost story", and I was definitely scared of Horst. The book was suspenseful, but believable at the same time. The ending was exactly what it was supposed to be, but had an unexpected twist to it. I would recommend this to girls that are 10 and older. -ifeelbookish

Miri is a make-believe kind of girl. Magic is a favorite. that magic becomes real when she looks through an old glasses lens taped to her wall, and is shoved back in time to 1935, where she meets molly, a girl with a mean, wait, scratch that. CRUELLY mean aunt. can Miri help Molly get into a better life in present day???
I absolutely loved this book when I read it, the first children's time slip novel I had ever picked up, let alone read all the way through.
It's about a girl named Miri who has older twin brothers and younger twin sisters. One day they move into a new house and Miri finds a glass that takes her to 1935. At the end she takes a friend names Molly from 1935 into the 21th century to be sisters.
Great book. Miri gets to travel back in time and meets a girl named Molly. It is during the depression in 1935 and a very bleak time. Magical things happen.
This was such an ADORABLE story. It's a book when you need relaxing time, but when you still want to read a book. It was very fast pacing. It was about this girl named Miri she is the middle child having no twins while the rest of her siblings are twins. When they moved they found out that there was a buried treasure, people started to hunt for it, until Mira after she got sent to her room by hitting her older brother with the shovel. Mira "somehow traveled" back in time 1935, meeting a girl named Molly who feels the same way as her... through this relaxing and fun book you start to unravel the mystery of this magical tale.
I loved this book so so so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is a fictional story about a girl who goes back in time by looking into a piece of ordinary glass. She goes back in time to when the Great Depression is going on, and ends up in a room a lot like her one and makes friends with a girl named Molly. I think this book was written for girls more then boys because the two main characters are girls. I think the message in this book is ''Help others''. I hope you like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
