Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit who enjoys a comfortable, unambitious life, rarely traveling any farther than his pantry or cellar. But his contentment is disturbed when the wizard Gandalf and a company of dwarves arrive on his doorstep one day to whisk him away on an adventure. They have launched a plot to raid the treasure hoard guarded by Smaug the Magnificent, a large and very dangerous dragon. Bilbo reluctantly joins their quest, unaware that on his journey to the Lonely Mountain he will encounter both a magic ring and a frightening creature known as Gollum.

Interesting book so far!

I thought this book wouldn't be as good as the film, but I was wrong. I loved it! I am now obsessed with it and I am starting a Hobbit memorabilia collection.

this book is really adventurous and at a really high reading level

i really liked the movie, so then i read the book. i liked the book, but is was really hard to read. i thought that the author seemed to like to take his time describing a single blade of grass. Other than that, it was a really good book, and i will read it again!:)

i think that this book was ok, but it was really hard to understand what was going on without having to re-read the entire chapter.

Best Book Ever!!!

This is a great book about a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins, a wizard named Gandalf, and 13 dwarves who go on a adventure to win back there riches from the evil dragon ( Smaug ) who took it from them.
